If it makes less money than Superman then it’s a failure. They’re both targeting the exact same demographic and narrative focus on throwback nostalgia, hope and earnest kindness mixed with goofy comic shit

When adapted to cinema, Fantastic Four will always remained cursed

No it isn't. Now shut the fuck up with the /tv/ autism already.

As long as it gets to 400 million that’s a huge success. That’s more than thunderbolts got

Superman is currently just over 400 million. Probably will end at 500. Maybe a little over

I think the worst problem with FF is gonna be the weekend drop off. The opening will be higher than Superman had IMO. But have a much harsher drop off.

Doesn’t help it’s so bizarrely unconnected to the rest of the MCU for a movie that’s meant to bring them into it

Fantastic Four is also comics, so it counts as /co/, dude

idk the 2000s Tim Story movies were peak kino. Alba was hot as Sue Storm and the late-Nip/Tuck actor was the best Doom

There’s nothing major in August so that might help FF for a few weeks

400 million is not a success unless it’s literally just being compared to thunderbolts

Needs around 500-550 to break even depending on marketing budget.

The weird thing is both superman and FF aren’t gonna lead to things being cancelled for not being huge blockbusters because they’re building blocks for the real plans later. Just doing “ok” is fine for studio heads right now

No it isn't. If it has a 200 million budget, that's barely breaking even. And we know these capeshit movies cost way more than the initial budgets the hollywood trades release.

This movie was done as soon as everyone found out about the whole thing being focused on the baby. Honestly if they had made it Galactus coming to Earth like in the old cartoon or comic it would have worked but instead they made this stupid modern oh my God he want my baby. Marvel writing team needs to be fired like now is not even that hard of a story Jack Kirby did it with Stan Lee late the whole script was right in front of you and they still had to change it. I can't figure out how someone can be so incredibly stupid and high on their own farts.

It's so cool coming to /co/ and being able to interact with these studio insiders who know all about the inner workings of movie making, even down to how much a movie needs to gross to be considered a success...hey do you think you guys could pass along my request to Cara Delivigne for one of her used socks?

Currently tracking for $100-110 million opening

That doesn't sound like my Fantastic Four. They usually hate each other.

I think if Marvel hadn't cheaped out and hired an actual known director and cast actors people actually know instead of literal who's and that guy everyone's sick of seeing it wouldn't be such a guessing game of whether or not it'll actually be successful.

It's going to do well in the opening weekend but it has no legs
Anonymous No.149520907
>>149520877
I agree but I think these movies going to Disney+ just a couple months after release hurts the legs more than anything. I'm a huge Fantastic Fourfag and my wife generally likes MCU movies but there doesn't seem to be much point to drop $50 (we just go to matinees) on a theater experience for a movie that we'll most likely walk out of going 'eh that was okay' and will be on streaming within 60 days.

Yeah but all the other well known actors offered Reed were too expensive. Pablo got picked up outside a hardware store and would do the role for fifty bucks and a burrito

>fifty bucks and a burrito
kek...but that's what I mean the fact this movie is pretty well the MCU Hail Mary in terms of still being successful and they weren't willing to pay for actors or a director that'll actually put butts in the seat isn't a good sign that Marvel and Disney have learned anything from their string of flops

a 500 million result would be "a success considering the absolute state capeshit is in"
less than that it's a flop

no one likes fantastic four, and i feel like when it comes to capeshit fatigue marvel has it more than dc

As a DC fan i would be happy if dc somehow turns the tables and starts to get popular over marvel

It's tied to Doomsday, even people uninterested in F4 will see it to make sense of later things, like how people were trying to follow and figure out Kang even though he ultimately went to waste.

Mister Fantastic casting will never not piss me off.
God forbid we do one goddamn adaptation post 2012 where the actors actually look like the character's they're portraying.

They couldn't even get him to shave that shitty little mustache off his lip and make him clean shaven. Yeah, no, just spray-paint some silver on to his sideburns and call it a day.
