BB's powers are the best in a fight even without dragon stuff. Turning into a T Rex makes you an 8000kg bipedal monster with razorblades for teeth. That's why they always make the poor guy their dumb brawler while the rest of them are thinking of the plan. Raven can become White Raven in the Trigon arc, but away from that even her shields get broken by the werewolf guy.

BB is just self insert fandom popular who famboys want to be a sex god. Robin/Nightwing is presented as one of the pillars of dc heroes next to the Trinity and every woman's dream man/sex fantasy, in the comics. Hes also still a pillar of comics alongside superman, batman and Spiderman as a fundamental superhero archetype in real life.
