I agree, Superman felt soulless and vapid in a way. I

t's shocking to see it get so much praise, but then again DC fans have been starving so slop to them is like a 5 star michelin meal

I enjoyed how serious F4 took itself, Superman's stakes never really felt real, even when Superman is getting beat or going to die I never felt any real worry.

I appreciate F4 having massive stakes, the coming of Galactus, and Silver Surfer were done pretty well.

This film felt more like a film than Superman, which felt more like a commercial for the upcoming DCU, but in all fairness Superman needs to establish a universe, but then again so did the first Ironman and that film never felt like a commercial for the MCU

I guess what I am trying to say is F4 felt like a much more complete and realized film and world than Superman did.

People actually believe this. I prefer good movies, no matter which side they came from.

Okay, but is it any good? I don't care about how it compares to a movie I don't plan on seeing. Is it actually good?

Not Op but it's decent, Biggest issues for me were the pacing and some plot contivances, but nothing too big to destroy the film. The real focus is more on character than action, and the script and actors really sell you the family dynamic. The banter is the heart of the film, and a big highlight, besides the retrofuture style, is how well it showcases what makes the FF different from other superteams. Unlike previous films, the idea that they're more adventurers and explorers than superheroes is brought into the spotlight.
The villains were cool, but they're what suffers the most from the short runtime. Combines, I don't think Galactus and SS make up for more than 15 minutes of screentime.

I mean is well made, and as an FF fan I really enjoyed it. Even with it's weak points, I'd say it's worth a watch.

I'm surprised how short it was, then I remembered Rise of the Silver Surfer was also even shorter than this. What's with Hollywood keeping these movies with Galactus/Surfer in them so short? And they even cut John Malkovich from this, which feels odd to me.
They could have easily added an extra 15 or 20 minutes to the movie.

I wish I enjoyed it, but I’m really bummed right now. It felt empty, devoid of something I cannot quite articulate.

I liked Superman more, that one had more energy and heart in it but F4 was still decent. Sort of felt like a live-action Incredibles

They put more effort on it than previous Marvel movies and it was a fun watch, but I found Superman more memorable.

>Okay, but is it any good?

Unbiased opinion: it's pretty mid. Probably Thunderbolts-tier. Maybe a little under. You likely won't regret blowing 14 bucks to go see it but you're not going to remember shit about it in a week, either.

It’s pretty awful.
Surprisingly, FemSurfer was the highlight. But everything else was bad. Galactus himself is very disappointing. His initial scene is cool, but after that he’s pretty lame and just comes across as a giant. And Pedro is terrible as Reed.

Tbf all he did was resurrect Sue, which wasn't unexpected considering the movie was absolutely not going to kill off any of its leads in its first outing, plus the story kept hyping up his power despite seemingly just being normal throughout until the end
