Read Old Man Hawkeye. It's a prequel centering on Clint setting out to get revenge on the Thunderbolts that betrayed him once he learns he's going blind. It explores more of the setting without leaning on the more retarded elements. Great book.

The whole premise is already contrived, not because he got tricked, he gets brainwashed or misled all the damn time, it's that he managed to kill ALL of the X-Men. After the first few he kills the shock and surprise will wear off there will definitely be a much stronger response to put him down even if temporarily, and damn near all of them have something that can do that..

If they premised it that Mysterio got all of the X-Men to fight each other and that Wolverine was the only one left standing because of his ability to heal, that would have made much more sense, but it was needless edge and wank that he just murdered damn near the entirety of the X-Men all by himself.
