What if Aurora had magical abilities and Philip was half-ogre?

Depends. Would being half-ogre make him stronger? What kind of magic powers would she have?

>Instead of putting her to sleep, Maleficent hypnotizes her into being evil
>Aurora uses her powers over plant-life to engulf the castle in vines
>Half-ogre Philip fights through the vines and makes it to Aurora's chambers
>Aurora tries to kill Philip with some magic
>Philip is immune to magic thanks to his half-ogre physique and in order to break the hypnosis, he has to use his other physical abilities inherited from his ogre side of the family

I’ve always been partial to the “Maleficent’s apprentice” angle for Aurora, with more of a nature/hedge witch aesthetic. A less powerful version of Maleficent, if you will. We’ve had some good threads on it in the past, where we brainstormed stuff like her powers, backstory and motivations. I do like the idea of her turning into a big snake like a lesser version of Maleficent’s dragon transformation, plus someone once wrote a cool greentext of her summoning a snake familiar.

As for Philip, we might start on what an ogre is in this context. In the original version of the story where Philip’s mother is an ogre she’s basically just a bigger person with cannibalistic tendencies, which is apparently what “ogre” referred to back then. Would we use this or a more modern incarnation of an ogre, something more monstrous, perhaps with horns? If so, why did Philip’s dad marry her and how did he get away with it? His mother’s circumstances would directly affect his in many ways.

I've really always loved the idea of making Aurora magical. We've played with multiple angles for it in the past.

As >>149540545 says, we've propsed an idea where Maleficent actually IS invited to Aurora's christening, and so she gives Aurora a gift, and that gift is the power of dark magic. This leads to Aurora's corruption into a fae-type being and her falling under Maleficent's thrall.

A non-villainous version of this we've toyed with is Aurora just naturally being magically inclined because of her bloodline, something in the heritage of her family that gives her The Gift. Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather discover this when they're spending their long years raising Aurora in the wilderness, so they decide to reveal themselves as fairies to her, and they teach her magic as a means of self-defense.

There's multiple ways to go about it, but Aurora and magic just feel like they go together. She'd be a good fit as a sorceress. If there were ever a combined Disney Princesses cartoon I think that's how I'd want her to be used in the 'team' of the princesses, as one of their magic users along with Elsa and Rapunzel.

I've also tried more than once in the drawthreads to get somebody to draw her making the Dr. Strange magic hand gestures. No luck so far, though.

Ayy, that’s pretty good.
>Philip is 99% of the time the perfect prince
>the other 1% of the time he has to stomp down his inborn desire to fucking eat people
Perhaps he starts to develop an attraction towards Aurora because his entire life he’s kept women at a distance because he knows his ‘tastes’ would get someone hurt, but then he meets possibly the one woman in the world who can knock him on his ass with a fireball if the need arises. Meeting someone he doesn’t have to worry about killing could be a world-changing event for him, a chance to be open and cut loose for once.

In the original Sleeping Beauty story, there's a key plot point, that the Prince's mother descended from a long line of ogres and had a desire to eat people, including her daughter-in-law and grandchildren. the fact that the Prince and his children are also part ogre is ignored.
>>149540780
That's also explained
>Many a time the queen told her son that he ought to settle down in life. She tried in this way to make him confide in her, but he did not dare to trust her with his secret. Despite the affection which he bore her, he was afraid of his mother, for she came of a race of ogres, and the king had only married her for her wealth.

I did a lot of writefagging of a kind of Aurora like that back in the day. It was in the context of threads exactly like this. Basically I conjured up a scenario where Aurora is a sorceress and Philip gets to be a knight/paladin, and they're both journeying together through a Dark Souls-ified version of their kingdom that is currently under Maleficent's thrall.

It was a lot of fun to write. Especially so because in the actual Sleeping Beauty movie, Philip and Aurora don't actually INTERACT much, given how little screentime both of them have. So it was fun to write them as adventuring partners, technically betrothed but with a little ambivalence to their relationship. Especially Aurora, being the wizard that she is, keeping secrets and hiding things from Philip, as is the wont of most magic users.

Can anybody request this in the drawthreads? I think it would make for a cool picture, Aurora doing Strange's "throwing up the horns" hand gestures while casting a spell.
