With a couple of exceptions, it basically uses Byrne and Claremont's original plans if Jean never died for retro stories.

Jean gets lobotomized and has a mind of a kid, Sauron gets cured and joins the X-Men as their mansion based doctor, Sebastian Shaw kidnaps every known mutant circa 1981 and plugs them into Sentinels who then get their powers (creating chaos when Franklin gets plugged into one), Lilandra turning evil and revealing she stole the Phoenix Force from Jean when she cut up her brain (and dying, but not before the Phoenix Force admits Jean was just a host body and guiltless of genocide), a take that against Bendis's OG5 time travel story, Byrne's Wolverine origin story where he had all of his bones crushed and was like Joe Bonham from Johnny Got His Gun as every bone got replaced with Adamantium ones one at a time, and which IIRC was the last arc he did before it got put on hiatus when Byrne started negotiating to get it it officially published.

(And yes, Byrne also shits on Vision in this fucker)

I remember Byrne 'foreshadowing' his late 1980s Avengers stories by having Wonderman's 'secret' feelings for Wanda being so obvious that Cap had to tell him to back off, she's a married woman, but I can't remember what Byrne did to Vision in these comics.

Byrne also does the whole thing he wanted to do where Magneto is just 100% evil and wasn't in the Holocaust, Xavier tries to give him the memories of someone who was, to make him easier to wrangle.

Percy's DP/Wolverine was underrated. It was mindless 90s X-action. Its okay to have a little bit of that evert month - especially given the garbage state of the rest of the X line.

The little corner of Wolverine, Deadpool, DP/Wolverine, Hellverine, and Weapon X Men was decent -- probably the best part of From the Ashes collectively -- but thats still too many books.
