is it normal to be triggered by character redesigns or am I just being autistic?
I feel like they are changing something that didn't need to be changed just because they can.

You're likely autistic. Yes. Kinda weird it took so long for you to find out.

The animators that used to work on the classics like Shrek are mostly gone now and now the new generation of less competent animators have to make new movies. This is the result, because they don’t get how to make appealing looking animation like old heads did.

Unless it's a direct upgrade I think its fair. And 90% of the time it looks worse so I get being like "why did you change this for the worse?"

The consensus on donkey kong is that it was hard to make him goofy and emotive with the rare design

The lack of pupils In the Harley show really fucks me up.
I associate that as an indicator that someone is blind or under mind control or something.
I never got used to it.

It's perfectly normal. Consumers are conditioned to be very sensitive to the precise threshold of "new but different" they feel comfortable with and though this has been the case for decades, in recent years entitlement has been nurtured and validated by the rise of social media consumer culture to the point of stunting basic basic open-mindedness to change.

A major factor/turning point was the Sonic the Hedgehog movie probably; since the consumer/creator power balance was thrown off permanently and consumers got power-drunk with their collective ability to influence creative choices regardless of their merit or lack of it.

I really wish they'd change shreks face bro. he looks like shreks cousin, not shrek. he has had the same face for 4 movies dude

Sonic's arms can be blue, and that's not the end of the world. It's not even a thing to care about for a fraction of a second.
>or am I just being autistic?
You should have noticed that years ago, when you knew you're an adult who thinks cartoons are very important.

Either that or your need to realize that designs change and that the designs you like may not be the original ones. For example, have you seen the original Lobo when he first appeared?
