Kelly Thompson got 50 issues of Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers). Iron Man just struggled to get 10. Doctor Strange got 18 plus events, and 10 issues about his wife. Daredevil is getting cancelled at 25 but to be fair that's because Ahmed managed to take the "no bad runs" guy and wrote the most colossal fuck-up since Shadowland.

Carol gets graded on a curve. She's not expected to be successful. It's not about money with her, it's about meeting quotas. Characters like Iron Man not being successful is inexcusable, so we're in a perpetual rut of announcing and cancelling books until the right creators that give the character the clout they should have are in place.

Ehh, the Kelly Thompson book was actually selling better than the Iron Man books that ran alongside it, it was the definition of "selling just enough to not get cancelled", recent Iron Man books pretty much flop after the first few issues. If anything, it's more because of the fans than Marvel expectations, Carol never had remotely decent book since her Ms. Marvel days (and even then it was just mid), so Carolefags gobbled Kelly Thompson run up, but Iron Man had multiple good run, and people aren't gonna tolerate the recent slop marvel release with him.
