There was a newspost. They're going back to two updates a month, possibly more when they're on a roll. The FRAF was announced, and also more or less stated to be the new official Homestuck forum. They're working on getting the Homestuck website back up. Seems like it's a pain in the ass to do, but it is supposedly almost done, and will be announced when it is. Hiveswap confirmed to still be a thing that's being actively worked on, with more news to be announced, if I'm guessing right, at SAHcon, which looks to be on 10/25. More plushies on the way, along with more merch and fun things people have been cooking up in the background.
Seems also that the whole team is champing at the bit to spill spoilers and are happy that Act 2 is started.

"Rose cheats on Kanaya out of nowhere" is such a bad criticism of a genuinely bad work when rose cheating on kanaya was a good writing decision that made sense for both of their characters(rose as someone so self-absorbed and so self-assured she would let herself cheat for any reason she could come up with, and kanaya someone so used to being a doormat and so dependent on her crushes to be self-destructive and reckless so she can seem like a rock in comparison) and their relationship which beforehand was boring as hell, just the obligatory smarmy perfect lesbians who are always right next to eachother and have no character outside eachother and always so deeply in love ooh la la look how they kiss and hug so passionately they're just MADE for eachother.
Rosemary wouldn't be so boring if it had always been written as a doomed relationship born out of mutual desperation; They met literally the day Rose saw her mother die, which sent her into a whirlpool of emotions both in mourning and from all the bottled feelings she had about her mother, so it makes sense she immediately becomes dependent on another maternal figure, a character to whom motherhood is a central motif. Kanaya on the other hand, kind of like Eridan, just spent the last month watching the woman of her dreams fool around with another guy, knowing she only kept her around as a shoulder to cry on. She meets a new light player who like Vriska is also self-absorbed and reckless and immediately sees Rose as her second chance to get a girl that will become dependent on her responsible motherly role, and only plays it differently to the extent there is no chance this new girl can think she wants something platonic. She literally sits by and watches as Rose spirals into alcoholism because she ultimately doesn't want whats best for her, she just wants someone who won't leave her. There is so much to work with between them for interesting drama that Hussie refused to touch because lesbians.

Post-Canon is split into two universes, Meat and Candy. Meat is basically the main universe while Candy is a sort of doomed timeline thats on life support inside the black hole that Alt-Calliope creates at the end of the comic. All the depression and fanfic-y relationship drama happens inside Candy because due to being confined inside the black hole, it can't have an effect on the outside canon. It's a good read if you can accept that Candy is intentionally a bit fanfic-y. There's gonna be some fun stuff in the near future where the Candy characters will go to Meat. Most of the depression in Candy actually results from the more meta-aware characters realising that they're in a irrelevant universe. And yeah, Meat John dies and Terezi is working with the bad guy to get him revived (they had sex in a car together) while Candy John is living through the worst midlife crisis a man can have. We know June, a trans-version of John, will appear and the main candidate for that is Candy John but we also got introduced to the idea of fanon-characters (so basically non-canon out-of-character versions of them) existing so June might simply be one of those and not one of the two main Johns

This reminds me, I've been imagining what they'd look like in homestuck 2 (I haven't read it, don’t wanna. The shit with Rose, Jade, and Kanaya bums me out too much, and I dont care about the other characters enough).

I like to think Equius and Nepeta live together in an underground fallout type of bunker. Equius has a self-sustaining food source via underground farm.
Nepeta managed to form an agreement where she hides and cares for an invasive species of rabbit-like rodent mole things, and hide them from the government or whatever who, upon discovering they still remain, will exterminate them, and cause their extinction.

In return for keeping their species alive, they agreed to let Nepeta eat a few of them whenever she wants.

She convinces Equius its morally okay because theyre basically saving the species in the long run.

Rose has been an incredibly selfish and self-destructive know-it-all from day one, and BC really helped open my eyes to that fact, and allowed me to go back and seriously examine Rose's actions in the main story.

Why would a character being selfish and self destructive make them not your favorite? Rose is great BECAUSE she thinks she's smarter and better than everyone. Its what makes her relationship with her mom, that she's ruined, interesting, and its what makes her insane actions in act 5 so fascinating.

the funniest part is how he seemed fairly ok after the 3 years pre-retcon, which implies that Vriska's presence on the meteor made everyone signicantly gayer. Memes aside though, her being their made everyones lives worse. Yeah Rose recovered from alcoholism quicker, but pre-retcon everybody talked and hung out together.
