Of all the johnny-come-latelys seeking that sweet TMNT cash, the Jazz Band of T-Rex brothers that were also secret crimefighters earned a special place in my heart.

Has anyone here seen a Tyrannosaurus skelly up close? Are they as big as they seem in the movies? Like they're supposed to 20 feet tall, 40 feet long and weigh 10 tons, which is like twice the size of an elephant.

I’ve seen several actual specimens in person. The ones in NYC, the Smithsonian and Chicago. I’ve also seen a few replicas elsewhere. The movies definitely oversize them by a lot, but they’re still very imposing when you’re near them.

Funnily enough, the JP T Rex is actually slightly smaller than the real deal.
>JP 1 Rex is 40 feet long and weighs 7 tons
>Scotty is 43 feet long and weighs 9.8 tons

I’ve been to the Natural History Museum in New York. They’re not as imposing size wise as the Jurassic movies present. Actually, most of the skeletons weren’t too much to give one pause. Except that fucking titanosaur.

Tb h it definitely depends on which fossil we're talking about. I have seen some pics that make me go "meh" whereas others that make me go "holy shit that's massive"

Man I miss this old school style of Paleoart. Where the dinosaurs were scary and menacing alien monsters.

I hear ya. I have a soft spot for 90s paleoart (Gregory S Paul, some of John Sibbick's later works). They had more accurate postures and movements (no more lumbering dull witted iguana) but also made the mesozoic look really fascinating. Like this mysterious world we can only fantasize about.

I liked it better too but in hindsight the shrink wrapping was kind of silly.

I know some might find this picture derpy, but it scares the fuck out of me, and I don't find dinosaurs actually scary.
