It's like the cartoon equivalent of playing with a huge box of random action figures. And for me specifically, they make references the way I would make references.

Plus it's got a shitton of waifus in every shape and size.

That reveal of Professor Venomous being K.O.'s father blew my mind when I first saw it, one hell of a "I am your father" moment.

It was pretty hit or miss but it was a lot better than most cartoons of that era. I hope it comes back to hbo max or we get a complete series dvd.

I'm surprised you didn't see it coming a mile away. OK K.O. wasn't exactly subtle when it came to its running plot threads. Did you watch this show as it aired or did you binge through it after it ended?

I'm bother by many things about this show, like chip damage becoming the scapegoat for Foxytail and her getting away with it, never having Venomous fight his old super hero team, the fact that there is a school for heroes, Mr. Gar sell stuff for heroes yet we barely see any actually super villain vs Hero fight outside of Boxman sending robots to destroy the bodega.

It's my favorite CN original. It just hits for me. Fun characters, fun sense of humor.

Not surprised /co/ hates it though, it's an animated series.

I don't think it was a good show but I think all cartoons from that era deserved to be treated better. Just in general. More consistent scheduling, a clearer barrier between new episodes and repeats, the establishment of a proper consistent schedule that allows for reruns of old episodes, a slot for reruns of new episodes the day after premiers, and a good spread of shows.

I just think so many shows were slighted by the expectation that people will just go watch it online.

I liked it. Played the video game. It was definitely missing something. They spend a huge amount of time making characters and doing references, but not actually delivering on enough shit to care about, OR settling into any kind of groove.

I remember before it was a show when it was a series of shorts that swapped between multiple art styles, and I remember some of them looking pretty good, and then the one they went with looks like it was animated in a moving car

I still don't know what this show was even about
It's a world full of superheroes(?), but it has slice of life themes like working at a convenience store...that always gets attacked by a super villain across the street, and KO wants to be a super superhero?
I don't know despite it being full of wacky, zany characters the world felt limited and too incohesive. It was to the point that I never felt any stakes in the show since most of it took place across the same street. I don't even remember if they tried to lore dump or have episodes where they take themselves seriously.
Shows like Adventure time had a healthier balance

1. Lakewood Plaza Turbo was made up on the spot in just one night. That context is important: https://ok-ko.tumblr.com/post/133624368834/original-pitchbook-ian-jones-quartey-may-2011

2. You're missing the point. OK KO was less about "stakes" and "in-world logic" and more about character dynamics. The CHARACTERS were what made it fun or interesting. Sometimes you'd even get some truly impressive character development, too.

i say it has its faults but i really enjoyed it
(namely if they are going to hook enid up with a girl elodie was way more interesting than red action)
you can really tell how much love ian has for the animation medium
it helps that im not the type to get chuffed over millennials referencing stuff they like

It was one of those rare shows where you could really feel that the creators/boarders were having fun making it, even if their idea of fun was occasionally cringey.
