The reason this show was made may be one of the craziest things i’ve ever read

I remember my mom seeing this in the TV Guide and thinking it would be an actual compilation of Tex Avery shorts, sitting down to watch it with me, and as soon as the theme song started her getting the most genuine "What the fuck is this shit" look and watching the whole thing just to confirm it wasn't just a bad intro to a genuine compilation segment. Then immediately changing the channel when the episode started playing.

I'm pretty sure some of those are fake but the story with my mom is real, note that it doesn't end with like disowning me or something lmao. It was just awkward as fuck.

>This show only exists because of a deal struck to secure college funds for Tex Avery's grandchildren. His daughter, Nancy Avery, agreed to allow the show to be made, using her father's name, to generate income for her children's education. Initially, the producers offered a small sum, claiming they didn't need her permission, but she sought advice from Chuck Jones, who helped her negotiate a better settlement.
And yes Tex’s daughter actually approved of this.

Honestly good, show may be shit but at least it helped pay for the education of Chuck's family.

What was the source for this story anyways, TV Tropes? Robby London talked about the series once and he never brought this up

NGL, while this show isn't absolute garbage as it has a few moments here and there, it's still tough to sit through it.

I listened to the interview where he talks about it again, to be transparent London worked on more series than probably most people in the biz do so he doesn't remember everything, but he said they got the rights from one of Avery's descendants who was living in France, and makes no mention of the "college funds" story. He did say he liked working on it and Eddie Fitzgerald was very funny during production, it does not feel like it was a cheap cashgrab from how he talks about it. It was just the nature of how it was produced, 65 episodes with very short turnaround time on broadcast television in the late 90s
Andy or Eddie might know more but they've never been asked about it, honestly I wish I could interview either one of them

There was a 3 part interview with Robby London, and this was an excerpt
He was also responsible for the Sonic Underground theme song IIRC

Yeah I'm listening to part 3, VERY fascinating insight. There's not enough interviews with people like this, YouChew did a very brief interview with Phil Harnage, Nick did a series with a lot of NAS people, someone did a good interview with Jim Jinkins, and Greg Ehrbar does a very good Hanna-Barbera podcast, but there's not nearly enough IMO

>robby london mentions having an irreverent sense of humor in the interview
>he also seems to remember sonic underground quite well, even remarking the intro he wrote has pretty good numbers on youtube
>robby london would have to have searched sonic underground on youtube to know this

I found it
>One of the most surreal moments of my entire life was seeing the death casts of people who died in absolute agony during the disaster of pompeii. Seeing the bodies of mothers holding their babies, dead and preserved for thousands of years still wearing their jewelry and clothing. And immediately after seeing such abject tragedy and horror there was a gift shop full of copies this for fucking $15. I’m not sure I’ve ever been more depressed.

I do wonder if the creators did plan on to make multiple seasons? I also wonder if any plushies for made. I mean the show got picked up for 65 episodes, so they thought this show was going to be way big then what it was

This really odd because only the original dub got lost unlike the Latin spanish one it always happens the other way, the only other series that i know that has that problem is Kidd video many of the videos that i saw switch to the mexican dub and put subtitles

65 episodes is the bare minimum needed for syndication, and DiC is all about getting that syndication money.
