I wasnt on /co/ but I do remember it. Catching it on Comedy Central back in the day when my family was staying somewhere with cable was always fun. Callie was pretty hot too.

Actually, looking back at the dates, I might have actually been here. I got onto 4chan in Highschool, right around the time this would have been airing, and I know I definitely spent most of my time on/co/ back then, so I may have actually discussed it here. Honestly don't know though, I think I remember the p0ny problem before they sequestered it.

I get the feeling that Comedy Central always compares its newest shows to their current cashcows and if they don't perform the same they kill them prematurely.
So it's not South Park's fault but every animated show is expected to be the second South Park...or Brickleberry.

You might be thinking of another show. Season 2 was a split season of 17 episodes. The first 7 aired with Futurama, and the second ten aired with South Park. It bled ratings compared to season 1.

Like, just to reiterate how odd and out of place this is.
You've got a generic ninja, a sumo holding a samurai sword.
And then you've got a oddly specific secondary character from a currently airing series with no official English translation.
Like, a bunch of superficial stereotypes suddenly infiltrated with genuine weebcore.
I'm really curious what was going on behind the scenes with the guy who slipped that in.

I used to watch it while I waited for South Park to start when I was a kid in my third world village. I liked it the art style is still really cool. I've seen a few clips here and there on youtube now a days but I never sat and watched the whole show. Is it worth the rewatch?
I also remember the latin american spanish dub of it being really good.

I can totally picture like the only weeb in the studio casually giving the dude making the outline of the scene a Tsukasa reference picture to "help him out" but he was actually inserting his fetish on the show in secret. Cute and Funny enjoyers move in silence like lasagna.
Anonymous No.149683898 [Report]
>>149683742
Well the idea of the scene is to create a bunch of goofy stereotypes with the storyboard/outline being very generic tokens with little opportunity to sneak in references....but at the same time I feel like they could've definitely gotten a more specific Ninja reference if they were really just trying to sneak in weeb jokes. Like that could've so easily been Kakashi or whoever.
It's probable it's just something like >>149683829 where they just pulled up "Japanese Sailor Suit" reference and that managed to catch their eye.

>secondary character
Tsukasa was not a secondary character, she's one of the 4 main characters. Also Lucky Star aired in 2007 AND was dubbed by 2008/2009 well before Ugly Americans aired in 2010. Lucky Star was crazy popular with anime fans at the time. It was arguably more poplar than Haruhi was so an animator slipping in Tsukasa really isn't too shocking. Its pretty surface level compared to, say, the shit the Star Trek TNG guys would squeeze in to the backgrounds of various episodes.

It was alright, but it didn't need more seasons. S1 was very solid, but S2 already suffered a lot from both flanderization and shallow, meandering plots. Many of the concepts were still really fun, but the execution was just awful. There's a reason why the ratings just absolutely tanked.

Let's be real, she was the Bill of the group.
She's not Hank, she's not Peggy, or even Dale. The show is Konata>>>>>>Negumi>>>>Tsukasa>>>Miyuki>Everyone else.

Trump's been the posterchild for hard-ass corporatism since the 1980's.
If you're running a gag with demons as corporate management, it would have been odder if you didn't have Trump in there.

Too many episodes revolved around Mark getting tricked into thinking he's not getting tricked, the worst example being the series finale which felt like satire. Other than that a great show.

Eh, I disagree, it's inspired by it but they've absolutely gone out their way to make it look a bit uglier and goofier. For example they've gone out of their way to include prominent facial structure lines but added no shading or shadowing that brings out the facial details to go with it. It makes it look that bit more awkward.

I’ve got digital back ups of it and watch it every couple of years since it’s aired. I like that it’s an unknown gem and not beaten to death in online discourse by people pretending to be interested in it only for internet points. A lot of shows just get over exposed for their own good, and sometimes I don’t want to talk about the same stuff to the point of obsession. Everything in moderation
