South Park was a show that only ever got popular because it was about children saying bad words and it also happened to have a photogenic merchandisable cute art style. The fact that it has lasted for so long is honestly pretty insane. But with that being said, it's obvious from all the commentaries and whatnot that they do take making the show extremely seriously.
