I dislike the Spiderverse because it means Spiderman is no longer just some random guy who became a hero, but is instead some kind of fated hero chosen by destiny.

>but is instead some kind of fated hero chosen by destiny.
That's been the canon and the retconed canon for at least 5 times already before miles was even conceived.

It's been like that since before One More Day.

I hate Spiderverse for shoving that disgusting Spider Punk design everywhere

Peter Parker is a gifted science prodigy

how does the spider-verse even work from an in-universe perspective? if they're all Peter Parker then I'd get it, it's all variations of one guy, but some of these aren't just Parker they don't even have the powers. does the multiverse just apply the Canon Event to everyone who bears some mild resemblance to a spider?
none of this makes sense is just dilutes an otherwise simple story

How does that work?
It's the inverse, any random asshole bitten by the spider can have invent web-shooters and solve the science problems Peter deals with to become totally-legit Spider-man-ses

what about the Spider-Totem? :)

Does that mean you also hated the totem, Madam Web, and several other instances of Spider-Man being a multiversal constant that predates Spiderverse? Spider-Man stopped being some guy a long ass time before Spiderverse.

Comics need a balance between cheap thrills and actual drama or emotional moments. It's a bit like why the MCU failed because they forgot the balance. The problem with the multiverse is it becomes cheap thrills incarnate, a representation of the multiplication effect, needing bigger and bigger threats and problems but reducing the individual emotional character arc because technically they are all happening. How can you go back to a street level threat when you saved the multiverse? By making people care, by working on actual characters and stories and moments. But instead we just get another bit cheap thrill.

Spider-Man isn't special when 80% of the Marvel Universe is already just some random guy who became a hero because he got powers randomly.

I dislike multiverse anything because it robs the story of all possible stakes. If one world dies, who gives a shit when there's infinite others?
Anonymous No.149697705

but they're never the same world. When Flash of Earth 45 dies its not like the Flash of Earth 1 is a solid replacement. And pulling in replacements from the multiverse isn't all that common. Some characters from the multiverse even grow into their own unique personas like Power Girl.

Multiverse and all it's influences have been nothing short of an abomination

I don't think you understand how the multiverse works.
It's not that every universe has a spiderman, it's that every spiderman in a universe is connected. Yes, you see in that movie like 10000 spiderman, but what you don't see are the billions of billions of billions universes where there are no spidermen.

they share the same modified spider dna. Is not that complicated.

That's from 2007. It predates the Spider-Verse and it was just a fun little short story. It wasn't making fun of anything. Not that the Spider-Verse created the idea of alternate Spider-Mans.
