It's psychologically impossible to be normal and hate Clark.
I've wanted to write an essay about it in college but my prof said it'll be better to pick something else
My thesis was that he's a fictional character that symbolizes the pinnacle of good so by hating him you simply hate good things.

From what I've noticed about people close to me who think they don't like Superman, it literally has nothing to do with Superman. They've amalgamated a weird idea of what Superman is in there heads based on a bakers dozen of adaptations and imaginary stories and sort blurred them together into a mish mash of things they dislike.

This is the new strategy now that the film is a confirmed success? Try to stoke division based on directors?
MoS was good, Supergunn was good, fags trying to create a false dichotomy should rope and are probably paid Didney shills.

Snyder is what Death Battle people would be like with the rights to make a movie.

I don't have a hate boner for Snyder the way most people do, but I know that he's DC's Michael Bay.
Everything he makes is action packed and cinematic and blah blah blah but ultimately he just wants to smack action figures around ok instead of telling a good or fun story.
That's fun, he can do that but it's not the way to build a movie mythos.

Part of this problem was the market at the time, people seem more willing to accept more goofy and camp stories these days.

It's why I think Gunn was a good choice for Superman, I'm not a fun of Gunn's writing a lot of the time but for now I think he's exposed people to enough characters that people will look to DC for more fun adventures and interesting characters.

I don't think the new Superman has great writing but what it did do is make people like the characters and want to see more of them, which is incredibly important.
I also thought the first GotG was just okay and the sequels were much better, so I have hope for the future.

Snyder literally said in an interview "if I was gonna do Batman he'd totally get raped." The man turned Watchmen into an action movie. The man is an idiot. He's an idiot who can frame a shot, but he should never have been allowed to do anything more than direct photography.

I think that's part of the reason why 300 "worked." It's probably the closest we've ever gotten to a 1 to 1 comic adaption. Any time Snyder is allowed any creative control, he's going to fuck it up, because his ideas are inherently bad, but any given still from his movies look good.

Indiefags blame capeshit for their comics not reaching sales goals. Weebs blame capeshit for the US not making manga like comics. Marvel fans think DC is leaching off Marvel's success. In the end it's Superman who takes all their aggression cause he's THE DC superhero.

I've been interested in reading some Superman comics. Thanks to the movie I got interested and rewatched a bit of the animated series. What can you guys recommend me?

Side note, I can understand why people hate the Jor El twist. The cartoon, for example, is a very relevant warning on relying on artificial intelligence over trusted authorities like Jor-El, which I feel is more relevant now than ever.

>I honestly thought people just disliked Superman because he didn't had any interesting stories last decade or something

No. Superman as a character is inherently uninteresting because he's such an archetypal "hero man" that he doesn't have a single personality trait that isn't a built-in part of that archetype package that every hero inherits. He has the same exact problem as Hal Jordan and Nightwing, who both have the 100% exact same personality: generically heroic man and absolutely nothing original.

Of course, sometimes you WANT to eat butter on white bread. Sometimes you want the most basic thing possible. But it should be easy to figure out what the problem with that is. Gunn had to put 20 other characters into his movie because Superman by himself isn't interesting enough to carry it.

Read some fucking comics, ya dimwit.

Hal is a cocky, arrogant dude and a ladies' man with deep rooted insecurity issues due to the death of his father and also going batshit in the Emerald Twilight storyline.

Dick is a charismatic leader who is also a bit of a ladies man, but he's also got a good sense of humor. He's basically Batman but without the brooding or being an asshole.

Superman doesn't have to be boring. Writers just have to be creative and come up with something good that makes at least some 'sense'.

Superman is very basic and for that reason he will always be popular the same way that the Three Stooges will always be.

he's really not that talented of an actor, and Snyder isn't even close to a good enough director to get a good performance out of him.

He seems like a good guy, but he's not winning an Oscar any time soon.

here’s how I would explain it to a non-American: arrogant, overeducated debutantes from the cities and universities basically think they’re better than the working class and resent the fact that they won’t just shut up, take the jab, and stick their head in the sand as Congress gets overrun with pedophiles. they think the January 6th insurgency on the capitol was worse than 9/11.
people in the countryside of America are basically treated by college-educated debutants as backwards and inferior because their mentality, habits, and character are based on the great majority of American people who are being left behind by history.

>eroding our democracy to the point where he's most definitely going to install himself as dictator of America in 2028
>throwing immigrant and brown people into concentration camps
>reducing funding for education ENSURING THAT THE NEXT GENERATION IS EVEN DUMBER SOMEHOW
>cutting healthcare, financial aid for millions of Americans so that they can no longer afford to go to the doctor or go to school
>keeping ICE on the streets as his personal Gestapo

And all it took was Gunn leaning into the silver age weirdness of the character instead of the umpteenth movie where the Donnor films are copied, Superman stops Lex Luthor from doing something retarded, and romances Lois.

Yeah I know that happens in the new movie too but at least we had giant monster fights and shitposting monkeys. I keep saying Superman would be tolerated by normies more if niggers stopped trying to ape the Donner films in every adaption and just be weird like pic related

Trump is a politician so there are valid reasons to dislike him. The problem is legacy media which at this point is just propaganda (they always claim they're not "news" outlets to courts when they get sued) has a stranglehold on roughly half of America's minds which creates TDS. Ask your average Trump hater where did they hear their latest Trump news from and I guarantee its from some big media outlet. Last election proved most Americans broke free from the brainwashing but more work needs to be done.
