The trans thing was a whole other deal but it wasn't what hurt the show the most. The show was doomed from the start because of the shitty was Disney released it. They somehow got it in their heads that the show needed to have the majority of its seasons dumped in only February. Entire first season in one February. First half of the second season next year's February and second half of the second season dumped the next February after that. Dumps are the worst fucking way something can be released and Disney found a new way to fuck it up even then.

That episode didn’t officially air. There were other stories where they could have a trans acceptance story that would work better but that episode wasn’t that outlandish looking at the other themes throughout the show. They could have made it clear earlier on that Brooklyn was trans. Seeing as the voice actor is trans, it was probably intentional from the beginning that the character was too.
