>two decades of capeshit adaptations
>still reigns supreme as the best live-action capeshit villain
Why can't anybody dethrone him?

Every Joker after him has been poorly imitating Ledger’s performance.

I liked him more than any other capeshit since forever and now as an adult I realised - it’s because I always hated capeshit and The Dark Knight is more like a really cheesy spy movie than a superhero movie.

You only like him because his actor is dead you necrophile faggot. I'll take Green Lantern (2011) over Dark Knight any day.

Also a respectable choice.
I miss those kinds of villains who were clearly having fun tormenting their enemies and fucking shit up. Joker and Green Goblin are both former.
Nowadays the villains you get are either wooden-face exposition machines telling you how they're actually justified or the humor is more of a losers where the humor is more of "laugh at them not with them" variety.

But from the same cloth. Similar screen presence for their respective franchises. Great villains. Ledger was a god though.

Because without cool powers to fall back on they actually had to make him a compelling threat. It's easy to make Zod look scary when he can destroy a city with his bare hands, so they simply took the path of least resistance and didn't even try to make him an interesting villain. It takes a lot more to make regular dude dressed like a clown look intimidating so they actually had to make an effort.

Nicholson's Joker was way better IMO

Childhood is thinking the prisoners understand the innocent deserve to live over them, but adulthood is understanding they knew how Joker thought and they knew what pressing that button would do to their own boat.

I find funny that despite Nolan trying to be ""realistic"" his movies lack the blood and swearing the Burton movies had since he wanted the Dark Knight trilogy to be able to be viewed by children as well, so when people get cut and shoot they don't fucking bleed, kinda takes away from the whole "realism" thing, doesn't it? that and Rachel's recast

Nolan joker is superior, an agent of chaos that doesn't care about anything but cause panic. Doesn't give two shits about sending a message or money or whatever, and was ready to lie about the boats killing each other to continue his party.
Nicholson's is poorman Cesar's joker with some unnecesary connection to batman's past.

I know it's a joke, but I can understand the mindset behind it.
What happens in the movie is a very saccharine resolution to what is an otherwise pretty dark conflict that those kinds of jokes write themselves.

Yes but he is also at his heart bloodthirsty and misanthropic. He was prepared to blow them both up afterwards out of spite while still talking about how he was right, even if this disproved him.
It’s likely he didn’t care which group was the more moral of the two, just that either of them would betray the other and they would all pay for it. Like when he set up his entire gang at the start to murder every member. Proves a point but also kills them all if it allows for it.

he is not trying to prove anything, alfred explained his mindset perfectly, the joker is just shitting things up for sport.

I think the important distinction between general portrayals of the Joker is the balance of Crime Boss, Wacky Trickster and Murderous Psychopath.

Joaquin Phoenix's Joker was written expressly by Phillips as a Heath Joker standalone movie, as evident by the original movie's ending and Arthur being way younger in the script.

Dafoe defiled his Goblin by appearing in the MCU and the entire Raimi trilogy is defiled while Nolan is still untouched and sacred.

Not that I think he did switch the bombs but I understand the debate because switching them becomes a sick punchline. Its something I could see comic or BTAS Joker doing, but I don't think Nolan's Joker would do it. He was going to blow both up anyway so there's no point in switching the bombs.
