All right, I am gonna try to put all memes aside, and answer honestly: Individualism and the importance of the self resulted in a society selfish and narcissistic society where evrything has to be a reflection of one's own ego. Everything has to reflect yoour own values, and everything you consume has to be an extension of your own self. Are we really surprised that a society like this demands their own worldviews reflected in everything they consume?
And before anyone says "It's just people on the left who demand their own agenda in everything" no. You too are pissed because it is their ideology that is displayed and not yours. They just happen to be more successful at getting said message into the media, ddue to the current political climate. The moment the pendulum will swing and it is your own sense of self that is going to be reflected in the media, suddenly it will be "apolitical" and "well writen" again.

It depends on how it is executed, anon. The reason why people failed again and again in their claims that "Frieren" is racist, is because there is enough layers of obscurity between the real minorities and the "demons" in the anime. Let's see how real life racists usually describe minorities, shall we?
>dumb/thoughtless
>violent
>emotional/aggressive
>will outbreed the majority/host society.
The reason claiming that the demons of Freiren are a racist allegory, doesn't work because they are almost completely the opposite. They are calculating and intelligent, effective, emotionless and highly socihopathic, and few in numbers.
With viruses, there is enough correlation for it to someone whose brain is rotted away by the culture wars to make a connection, even if it is not your friend's intention.

The truth is, people stopped caring about compromise. When faced with opposition, they just go nuclear the other way, consequences be damned. Add in the effect of social media that amplifies the most extreme and radical voices.
