Snyder does read comics, it’s just that he only reads Geoff Johns Justice League and Morrison TPBs. He had Final Crisis on his counter in the background of a Thanksgiving photo a few years back.
There’s no facade when it comes to what Snyder takes inspiration from for his interpretation of DC. He wears the stuff he likes (GJ JL, Final Crisis, TDKR, etc) on his sleeve and manages to compellingly blend it with other shit he likes like Birthright, Byrne MoS, etc.
Only problem is that capeshitfags. (ESPECIALLY Supermanfags) are some of the most hostile, picky dickheads, so they’ve convinced themselves he’s Satan incarnate for playing with the Corporate Action Figures the ‘incorrect’ way.
