I'm trucking on. I planned to make my releases shorter, but with better art, but that's not quite panning out.

My comic: https://globalcomix.com/read/003eb87f-2c70-49dd-9710-87b5d5d03a19/21

Maybe in the future I'll post to more sites, but right now I'm content to just have it out there somewhere.

Loneliness is terrible for both mental and physical health. Can't be arsed to find it, but I'm pretty sure there was a study claiming loneliness can be as bad for you as smoking, which isn't great considering the loneliness epidemic we've had in the last ~5~ years or so. Now I just build a backlog of pages and release my pages weekly every Friday. It did help more with engagement to my comic and such. Now, I take a break, build a new big backlog while working on some other obligations.

Currently, my comic is a bit on a slower pace with smaller chapters for this arc, roughly between 4-10 pages. So I release every Friday 1 page per week, bit of the old classic method of the olden days.
After this arc's done, I go back to more longer 20+ pages per chapter, which then I'd go and release 2-4 pages per week as an update, whatever works to not run out of my backlog too quickly without jerking the audience.
When I take the time, I can pump out 2-3 pages a week, so I can decently build a backlog.

People have to relate to the characters and the situations to bond with them. Only then can you tell your scary story. And then it doesn't matter as long as you carefully fly below comedy.

In webcomic terms introduce your cast with light SoL jokes, make them emotional and just about shipping friendly. Consider the gimmicks you want to use and kill them off one by one. The thing to learn is how to stagger the whole affair and gradually increase stakes and suspense.

So Iโ€™m a comic artist and I have ideas for comics but I suck at writing.

Basically I have a vague concept, setting, and character designs, but suck at fleshing out character backgrounds and coming up with an actual plot for them.

I met a guy from a comic book shop who has the opposite problem. He wants to be a comic book writer but canโ€™t draw. Iโ€™m willing to pitch my comic idea to him but in case heโ€™s not interested or canโ€™t do it, I donโ€™t want him to take my idea down the line and collaborate with another artist.

Granted my idea is not the most original, but itโ€™s an idea I think would make for a fun comic.

What would I do in this situation? I asked if heโ€™s willing to sign an NDA, which heโ€™s agreed to do, but now Iโ€™m wondering if that comes off as pretentious and if it actually would protect my idea.

Also me and my co-writer decided to cancel the current iteration of the Sylvia spin-off. Things just weren't fitting together on it and felt a reboot was in order to also have it better fit with the soft reboot of Tom N Artie.

So now it's getting a new script, new artist and Sylvia's reboot design is finally apart of it. We're starting on pages to that later this month.

Iโ€™m not sure how helpful it is but maybe doodling down the image(s) in your mind first as stills instead of trying hash out the actual sequence first could help if you have difficulty being organized. Currently planning out my webcomic's story out. The general pitch is this: "It is said in the sealed continent of Askr most adventurers either complete their first quest or die and fail to leave any impact on the world. The Crown Chasers, however, are not like most adventurers. You see, through a series of events that are, according to their leader, Roswitha Rask, mostly not their fault, Prince Cyril of Cernunnos, who they were tasked with guarding, was transformed into a squirrelicorn. Now the Crown Chasers are tasked with capturing the royal-turned-rodent before war breaks out between Cernunnos and its rival superpower, the Abhartach Empire. However, as they undertake their quest, they slowly begin to unravel a much greater conspiracy, with designs on Askr and even the world beyond the barrier."

What do you guys think? I have a whole conceit where the first 2 or 3 arcs take place on a continent that was sealed away from the rest of the world via a magic barrier around 200 years ago during a huge multiple continent spanning war. The barrier prevents living things from crossing through. The barrier, however, has been weakening over time and is set to fade away fully come the winter solstice (the story starts on the summer solstice). I plan for the continent to become unsealed by the end of the 2nd or third arc depending on how I divvy things up. Basically, after the Prince Cyril stuff is more or less wrapped up and another evil rears its head to the heroes. Any thoughts?

Do you think the sealed continent angle is abandoned too soon in the story? I do plan to have the fallout of the continent being unsealed play a major role throughout the rest of the story.

I also feel like my comic lacks a real gimmick to it or something to really give it a solid identity outside of it being a high fantasy comedy-action-adventure webcomic with anime and d&d inspirations. Any suggestions?

>tips for powering thru those times
This isn't /x/ so I'm not gonna go into too many details, but one thing with creative pursuits is that you can't force it. I don't do anything creative unless the juice is there, because otherwise I notice a giant drop in the quality of my work. I work in bursts when I'm truly inspired. You can't put creativity into a box and just power through it like it's robotic, grunt 9-5 wageslavery. Only thing you can do is try to put yourself in a position where the creative energy or inspiration is sort of "drawn" to you by establishing a certain pattern of living and thinking. As for the depression, you gotta remember that materializing nonphysical ideas via a mind-to-page transfer (for lack of a better term) can be very draining. You have to conserve your vitality.

Not to shit on you too much but this sounds like it was repurposed from either an RPG maker game or a D&D campaign that never took off.
Also, you don't need a gimmick just solid art and writing. The biggest problem is it's hard to make a fantasy story feel new and fresh

Characters got to have an arc no matter what the setting. Doesn't matter if you borrow every bit of sword and sorcery known to man, the stories that stick are the ones with characters that have an arc.
D&D style campaign storytelling is meant to go for a while so you don't get that kind of storytelling there.
The best thing I could think of would be to start with an archetypical character and then figure out where you want that character's story to end at.
For example: Young Knight Eager To Prove Himself --> A Man who Learns Strength Isn't Everything

>superhero story set in the 2080s on an alternate Earth where the Space Race of the 60s went into overdrive, people are living on the Moon, Mars and even some scattered colonies on Jupiter's moons
>thirty years prior, human scientists managed to isolate/replicate the "meta gene" that gives random people super powers from birth
>this resulted in "Hybrids", basically artificial beings with custom made super powers, sparks a global genetic arms race that ends in a full on nuclear war
>story proper stays on a now fully united Earth, focuses on group of superpowered roommates who moonlight as superheroes on the sly (any and all metahumans are STRICTLY regulated by the global government)
>there's the neurotic smart guy Techie who has wears a set of power armor he built himself (and happens to be the nephew of famed hero Warper, one of the founders of the in-universe Justice League pastiche)
>laid back super strong Einst, the guy who can crack a city block in two but also always has a sharp joke to crack or poignant insight to dole out, and who speaks with a heavy, HEAVY Irish accent (long story)
>stoic ninja Baka-Kage, the only truly 100% human member with a mysterious past, but is a tried and true companion and bro
>not pictured here are the additions of twins Kardol and later on Kiesla, travelers from "the universe next door", as it were. Members of an ancient race of dragon-folk who conquered thier homeworld several times over and have a mountain of family drama following in thier wake (Kardol fled to Earth a couple centuries ago, Kiesla shows up in the story proper looking for him)
>story starts after the overarching villians manage to actually kill off the entirety of the Heroes Legion (the JL stand-in) by dropping thier orbiting headquarters out of the sky with everyone on board. Techie was present but survived thanks to protection from his uncle Warper, who promptly falls into a coma

I dont even know who you are and going by that pic you posted..well lets just say Mr.Kruger that, my observation had great timing. It may not be a politically correct observation but if I see dogshit in front of me, thats what I am going to call it.
Now I may be mistaken and that simply is not yours, so by all means, why dont you go ahead and post your exceptionally skilled handiwork, Im sure itll make me eat my own words..

1. I have literally seen my haters refuse to click on my drawings to enlarge them
2. I make stories, comics, characters none of them have said anything about.

I could care less for this pointless bickering, you do you sammy. Keep huffing that delusion gas you love so much alongside your equally deranged /co/veteers.

This has been the last exercise on futility for the day..your 'art', this drama, this thread and all of /co/ are nothing but a bag feckless, perma EBT recipient, mentally ill frauds with no substance and I wish only the worst upon you.

Iโ€™m literally manufacturing a major project on a daily basis, you just have to put in a little effort as a meager barrier of entry.

As an artist I seek ways to receive actual authentic opinions instead of just the same template of rejection of an outsider, like a corporate letter.
Thatโ€™s why normies donโ€™t like people of different ages mixing, you see the fake bullshit they say and do for their careers like robots every year and it loses all impact.
