I had high hopes on first season, but it was basically someone concept of monsters in high school that wasn't green light unless it had Wednesday in it.

They can't make them occur on command, they are usually vague enough that it requires some amateur detective work and group collaboration to put the pieces together
They only give just enough information to move the plot along, but they don't happen early enough to break the story entirely

I hold the view that stuff for kids should not be realistically violent or sexual regardless of orientation. This show already fails those metrics, so I don't care. I wouldn't let a little kid watch it as a standard position. Whether a specific little kid could watch it would depend on their age and how mature they are, but I don't think it would really be suitable for anyone below 10 or 11 regardless of maturity.
That said, you can still sell dolls to kids. It's a separate product without a specified age range.

I think there were probably more older viewers than that. It was very popular when it aired, which usually means something has reach outside of a narrow demographic. i think the difference with some of these is that, even if it wasn't explicitly stated upfront that the pairing was endgame, the telegraphing was very obvious for some time. korrasami is probably the most egregious example of surprise lesbians since that was actually out of left field and more of a distraction. but bait that turns out to lead to the real thing? that just stops being bait and becomes breadcrumbs.
And any character who comes out also, of course, has their potential romances shuffled mid-game.
