Lauren Faust’s original pitch to the Hub.
They turned it down, but gave her the option of doing either the Strawberry Shortcake or My Little Pony remakes.

I wish they would let her make more stuff. She always puts out a great season before losing interest and leaving the show.
Maybe she should make a mini-series.

Do indies count?
The Will of Monsters is an indie movie that's been on my radar, it's been in production for nearly 10 years, but as far as I'm aware, entirely self funded by the creator. That'll probably change soon as they're planning on launching a kickstarter. But I think the creator could do a better job at advertising this thing exists

Mecha-Nation was a pitch for an animated show created by Victor Cook, with help from Greg Guler and Greg Weisman. It was picked up by WB, but then a change in management kept it dead. It got turned into a three-issue comics. Also a pilot got made by Ghostbot around 2018, but nothing came out it.

Remember when we only knew Legend of the Three Caballeros existed because it got leaked in a phone streaming app in the philistines? Makes me wonder how many shows exist and are finished but also are shelved in some digital warehouse to never see the light of day.

My Little World started development in 2000 by Mark Nguyen, who at this point was already an experienced animator. It was supposed to come out in 2013-14 but due to funding problems it's still not out. Quietly cancelled? Think again. There's an Instagram page still posting updates. They still wanna do this movie and they even did a screening of a pencilled cut of it. I have a strong feeling that it'll be pure kino when it finally comes out, and something also tells me we may not be as far as we were.

Here's the original trailer from 2010:
