I know there are a lot of things FOP did wrong or didn't develop, but the characters I wish got more love and wanted to see what could have been next for them was Trixie and Veronica. They kind of got a weird bit of lore tidbits, classic FOP was fun because they actually gave their BG cast a lot of fun random personality. I sometimes wonder what could have been with the series

So how would you fix or develop trixie more, or some of the other characters that got pushed to the wayside?

I honestly wish trixie got to keep getting depth she really was a fun love interest early on because she wasn't so one note. Liked that she was a bit self aware of social status and that timmy was a good kid.

I remember reading a fan theory a few months ago regarding Veronica being Trixie's fairy godparent. The reasoning was that human characters don't have black pupils while the fairies do. Veronica has those black pupils.

Ok that's kind of a crazy concept but godparents trixie would be interesting. Could see her replacing remy, basically she learns timmy has fairies and thinks why is he so normal hating him for not trying to be super popular or that he doesn't have real problems.

Why she is obsessed with timmy, or maybe she's a young fairy so she and trixie used to get along well back in the day but the more popular and good her life got the more she treated veronica like a tool. Asian characters are all over the place in animation. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on what's the "correct" way to depict them. I guess Butch wanted to play it safe and gave her a whiter tone.
And desu, from what I've seen, Asians have a preference for whiter skin tones over yellower ones.

I was never really sure how popular Tootie was, or if its just in conjunction of being Vicky's sister, but the removal of both from this show undoubtedly had a negative impact, it's like removing Mandy or Isabella from Grim Adventures/Phineas and Ferb. A good portion of people won't like the change overall, and the ones that were calling for it either weren't watching anymore or are now making youtube critic videos about how dumb the show's decision making is now.

To be fair, trixie was popular as well why she has so many interesting character study fics and comics. Really I hated they took all the characters away honestly we should rank the FOP side characters

I think just about every character you listed besides the pajeet and boil kid could hold an episode of their own no problem, the excuse Hartman gave that they "Ran out of ideas" when they were writing and re-writing a million backstories for Crocker or Dad vs Dinkleberg... It's crazy, this show could've been competing with Spongebob and Loud House even in it's twilight with some tweaks, but they just completely dropped the ball.

They didn't as always butch did, I think butch was a guy that makes a good idea and just got lucky. Like with danny phantom he made the idea but as soon as he took more time writing he ruined the other writers good ideas. Like how they implied most of the ghost were well dead people then they just became entities from another dimension or his new books that are all ass. Butch is a idea guy but he really seems very generic and he just had great creatives around him supporting his ideas

Like the fun concept of a two sided ep with timmy popular ep and then the second part being from AJ and chester perspective. That was very interesting and unique for the time it was rare for a more sitcom/comedic series to do something like that and it allowed us to get a bit more perspective from characters that weren't timmy. Same with the iconic trixie ep, or the chester ep etc they had some interesting bones and just kind of kicked them aside. But biggest gripe I have is how they ruined timmy himself to the point most people remember him very different than he was. Timmy was a really good kid at his core not the asshole and bratty cunt the internet sadly meme him as and remember him for in the later seasons.

>Also another good ep was the grey ep where at the end his mom actually defends him by taking his ball back from the bully dentist you'd never get that in the later seasons.

In season 5, the show started doing a lot of Chester/ Aj / Tootie / Trixie episodes, only for it to wind up near cancelled. I don't think it's the fault of those characters either, but it feels like Butch always blamed them for it which is why season 6 and beyond gradually phased them out. The only thing that bumped the ratings up again was Poof's introduction, which is why they kept spamming new characters every season premiere to increasingly diminished effect. Overall, I think it was the lack of any sort of direction for these characters that hurt them. Like they sort of built the foundation of Chester or Tootie getting a fairy, but never act on it. They actually DO have Timmy and Trixie get together a couple of times, only for "Now what?" to set in hard and fast, and the progress inevitably undone. I think it's a poor showrunner that blames the characters, not the people writing them, for their failings.

Butch's "We ran out of ideas for Chester and AJ" was him pretty loud and clear condemning those characters. I dont think trixie or tootie were mentioned in that video, but they and other characters that met a similar fate are also condemned the same way

they either didn't focus test well, or Butch was sick of their VAs asking for fair pay or less screaming requirement

I feel Poof was the true "Litmus Test" for fans as it was when a lot of people tend to say they lost interest. Also let's be real around s5 was when Nick got in their heads if it wasn't doing spongebob numbers it's bad

Again I still tend to say it's on Butch, he has shown by himself he really can't writer or make a concept well. I think more than anything based on stories from others he alienates or vetos any good ideas or depth for more episodic basicness or samesie stuff. I do think Tootie or Chester getting fairies would have been way more interesting than adding chloe and yeah he must have hated those characters as chester and aj just stopped appearing in the last two seasons I believe. Also again nick is weird as they more cancelled Fop from what I remembered because the timmy jimmy power hour didn't do as good as they thought so they also cancelled jimmy as well. So more than anything it was more like i said the "you aren't doing spongebob numbers i.e bad".

Also they did still give him another season meaning fans definitely wanted more though honestly jimmy timmy being the soft finale for both shows would have been the best route. I feel like nothing of true interest was gained from the poof season, and s5 was the last "good" season but started the self timmy flanderization lowkey.

Probably the latter, as I feel like so many people do video essays and fanart and fics on those characters. I think more than anything it was less them and more how the show kept getting more and more flanderized and making the mc more unlikeable. I said it before but we sometimes forget because of how he is a borderline sociopath in later seasons but timmy is a really good or well meaning kid in the earlier series usually taking the shit end of the stick for others. Like the tootie ep, the chester ep etc, he usually feels bad about his selfishness

Season 4 and 5 were pretty much released concurrently with each other, so it's really them as a whole, and that's when most of the complaints of characters getting flanderized and autismo-triggering episodes like A Wishful Life, and I remember people railing against Sarah Frost and other directors and a lot of the shows woes being blamed on Hartman working on DP.

Then again, I always found it hard to believe that FOP was cancelled because of ratings in season 5. I think Hartman legitimately wanted out, he said so in a long-post on his forum (I know a few of the archive turboautists here might be able to dig it up, but it was the post where he announced Danny Phantom's cancellation). But other projects just fell through and he was forced back into it. Season 6 and the mistakes beyond always felt a bit like self-sabotage more than anything.

I thought they basically just made Trixie a golddigger, and even though she was featured heavily in the trailers and was in a tie-in video game on Nick's website, she basically did nothing in the movie along with the rest of Timmy's "allies" besides the ones that did the sooiywars parody, and the movie when full and complete total cowards at the end by resetting everywhen when the concept of fairies no longer needing to be secret could've been groundbreaking for the next season. So it and the rest of season 6 should just be tossed in the shredder imo. A FOP reboot should only respect seasons 1-5.
