Comics were for kids, those kids became hooked, some of them became writers and artists who elevated the books and expectations, the market adjusted too much to cater to this group, and now that select group is the only ones who buy this shit alongside some dumb bastards who have no taste and speculators.
For some reason Marvel thinks they are able to cater to a broader market or are doing themselves a favor by sandbagging their books with outrage bait so that LCS's go out of business and their eventual transition to supermarkets and bookstores will actually work out.

Believe me anon, I'm not shocked by this turn of events. I had a sinking feeling when I saw the mystery plot and Jackpot appear. Fucking Ewing and White need to get booted off and the whole Knull run as well as Ewing's run needs to get erased.

This shit isn't fun at all and it doesn't even have any substance to it. Spencer's run wasn't amazing and it was stretched out but it actually had some development and actually explored interesting parts of Spider-Man. Cates might have had some promise with Dylan and the symbiote revealing it caused the cancer. But none of that shit mattered in the end except the standard, OC helps save the day.

I also wasn't shocked by Spencer getting canned and fucked over but it still fucking stung. I mean I had a glimmer of hope but it wasn't shocking that it was snuffed out.
Yep Gomez and Spencer would've been great. Man...Spencer and Gomez would've been like Michelinie and McFarlane regarding plots and MJ focus. I feel like they'd have some real fun with MJ. Before Paul, Peter was going to propose to MJ who was his then girlfriend. Paul comes into the picture, shenanigans happen, then MJ leaves Peter for Paul Then somehow, Peter regularly hangs out with him with the woman who left him and the guy whom she left him for. This does not make sense at all and the writer knows. Yet, he has to act as if it is a thing normal people do because the editorial demands it.

The writer knows that it makes Peter look weak and desperate. The writer also knows that the narrative is one of infidelity on the part of MJ, yet they cannot even address it or even call it that. The characters don’t even question it. Peter does not even say that he was cheated on. So everything he has to write is in such a absurd limbo, where nothing really matters. Morals don’t matter. Actions don’t matter. Oh, MJ left Paul now? Why ‘now’? Because the editorial wanted that. These characters are no longer alive. They are just puppets.
