It's time for act 2 of the Thunder War. Two weeks ago, Storm got revenge on Chaac and Sango by throwing them into a pocket dimension and finally met up with the kid from Issue #1 who was hiding with Bishop (and was also much older, for some reason). Unfortunately, the FBI agents used their voodoo magic to kill off Manifold and Maggott, leaving Storm alone against Infinity, who has come to demand where her brother Eternity is.

And no, that glorious War Hippo is not in this comic. A tragedy, I know.

Beta Ray Bill is probably here because of what happened in Immortal Thor #25 which caused Thor to...let's just say become off-limits (for the time being).

Last time Akihiro managed to free himself from Severith's paralysis prison and tried to meet up with Project Hellfire, only to see that they had been completely decimated by the Hell Hulk. Now he must stop Severith from exacting his revenge on Mephisto and bringing Hell to Earth!

Funny that this is the first time the comic actually placed a gap between issues. Shame that it's happening just as it's about to end.

Good thing that these two are still alive, otherwise things would get pretty bad with Akihiro alone against the Hell Hulk.

I still can't get over the weird pregnancy test thing from Hellfire Vigil. Storm was crying. I get that a pregnancy scare can be emotionally tumultuous, but it was so weird. Storm got the test but then waited to check on it until right before the Vigil. She was in her party wear. Sitting in a bathtub and crying. So she did the test while getting ready for this big event, got dressed up in her special outfit, then sat down in her bathtub and checked on the test. And for some reason her crying was turned into a two-panel FMA Roy Mustang reference. Again, what? And I assume the reason she was crying was specifically because she wasn't pregnant, not because she'd worked up a tension while waiting to find out for sure, because her mood shifts to crying tears of joy as soon as Eternity confirms she'll become a mother in the future. Was it ever established that having a child is something she's trying for in the present? Because that seems to be the overall takeaway.

Why the hell did they put a reference to mourning the dead in FMA in a scene about Storm wishing to become a mom? What?

Adjectiveless and Uncanny are okay. The things to gripe with mostly have to do with editorial bullshit that had the series participate in multiple crossover events within their first year of publication. Or stuff like very clumsily trying to roll back several years' worth of narrative development to what feels like a very dank and unimaginative status quo.

Personally I'm also enjoying Astonishing more than I'd expected to. It's basically just Banshee, Husk and Skin solving crime together.

I kinda want to give the writer the benefit of that doubt and say once he got word the run was going to end for AOR he just cut his plot short. The entire Oblivion and Eternity plot got tossed for this Hadad shit. Storm is suddenly more powerful than when she had Eternity boosting her. The hadad arc is incredibly rushed and is solicited to end next chapter. It's a shame Stormfags on twitter and CompleX are eating this up when a All powerful storm clearly wasn't where this story was suppose to go.

Beating the fuck out of abstract when you normally have trouble with large robots is pretty sue'ish. What exactly is even her fault she doesn't have control over what the bad guys targeting her do.
