Back in the HiX-Men run, X-23, Darwin, and Synch went in to the Weapon Plus research facility called The Vault, where time moves fast and monsters are made. She spent 500 years in that hell. She fell in love with Synch. They were together for most of the Krakoa era, but died at the end of it.

There's a clone running around calling herself X-23, made from a brain scan set before she went into The Vault, but our O.G. Laura is dead and gone.

It's different. Resurrection through cloning when you're dead means your soul transfers. But cloning when the original is still alive creates a brand new soul. A new eternal instance of you. That's the way Marvel explained it. So when O.G. Laura died, she actually really died.
