I've seen a lot of skepticism since the beginning. When the movie was announced to the public, the first post in the first /co/ thread assumed that the movie's gonna be like Sausage Party. People mocked the premise and referred to it as "dog balls: the movie". As the movie spent years in the limbo with no one to release it, lots of anons speculated that the movie must be so awful that no company wants to touch it.
Still, there was a lot of curiosity mixed in with skepticism. An R-rated 2D animation by Genndy sounded like an interesting concept. For a long time the promotional art was scarce and the movie seemed like an enigma. But every time that there was more news detailing what the movie would actually be like, it sounded stupider and stupider.
After seeing Unicorn Warriors Eternal, I don't have faith in Genndy's ability to make his dog balls story work. It sounds too shitty. I would be happy if he surprises me though. And I do intend to watch it. At least Genndy's writing at its worst will end up being entertainingly bad instead of just average/boring.
