CN Reals existence.

Newer cartoons being put on dead slots

Nepotism and people hiring there friends over hard working animators.

California

Most animators at CN were mediocre as hell during 2016. Even the most obscure cartoon is better than any show in the 2010s besides shows like regular show or others like it.

Teen titans Go. Not because I dislike it but it was the most successful show that cn had. Which probably shifted the network into toddler block.

Genuinely? No new cartoons
That's it, really, even shitty cartoons like SU,WBB or TTGo are just that, shitty cartoons. Issue is that it seems like CN froze in time and stuck with those shitty shows for some reason and they weren't replaced. Hell, for as much as i like AT, RS or Gumball, fucking ten years later they are still around.
That's the issue, where the fuck are the new shows.

Craig of the Creek probably. In terms of being REALLY popular it's probably a tossup between AT, TTG, an SU, you'd have to trace when they declined ratings-wise. The trick is that half the Powerhouse cartoons carried over into city and were still the flagship shows on the channel, meaning that the City era newcomers being meh to bad didn't matter as much.
Noods had Flapjack and Chowder coming out of CN itself and TDI as the flagship of the Canadian imports with all of the good Powerhouse shows wrapping up before or early into it and the City era shows all dying off beforehand.

What ruined Cartoon Network is Mike Lazzo got promoted. What ruined Adult Swim is Mike Lazzo retired. That also ruined Adult Swim dot com in a huge way as Lazzo's vision was for a Streams-dominant channel that was free online. Turns out that instead of doing crossword puzzles and watching fish, they should have been playing video games and doing political grifting.

>what slowed CN down
The Boston bomb scare, Stu Snyder, CN Real, didn’t take until AT and RS to save them for a bit (Chowder and Flapjack only helped them coast)
>what infected CN
Shows slowing down, schedule chokeholded by TTG and a slight lesser extent gumball, new cartoons being less interesting (after SU ended, there was no show for grown adults to angrily give attention to)
>what sent CN to hell
Corporate WB mergers, AT&T mergers, Discovery mergers, Zaslav, CN studios closing a clear significant change that the channel is now an zombified afterthought, shows are whored around streaming services, Gumball revival isn’t even on the channel now

I have no idea what CN is going to do since it is no longer owned by Warner Bros, I’m pretty sure it’ll just keep trucking along like CW and just be in a sorry state

The problem was fourfold.
1. The executives got faggy after the 2008 financial crisis made them abandon experimentation and good taste for the minimum viable product.
2. The talent declined as the Gen X cool/rebellious casually liberal nerd crowd of the 90s got phased out for safespace tumblrcore millennial crowd.
3. Technology permitted more corner cutting via puppet rigging, tweening and whatnot.
4. Cartoon β€œotaku” didn’t cultivate and protect a healthy 2D appreciation culture so the industry fell back on kids who don’t know any better and tumblr who has terrible taste.

Cartoons are in the dumpster because they are financed by people with bad taste (and are cheap), made by people who have bad taste, for people with bad taste.

They kept allowing millennial women who didn't know how to write or draw join and now the industry is in the shitter. REMEMBER they chased away all the good artists so they could hire their friends and gatekept the industry to the point they utterly destroyed it and screwed over artists everywhere. Not to mention the screen guild caved in to the execs so those protests were for absolutely nothing and screwed artists over even more. Lesson of the story? Don't hire incapable people because they're your friends and then try to gatekeep and chase actual talent away.
We're in a dark age and with crap like Fixed being dangled like a keychain to an audience who probably won't see it and will shill it regardless of quality because "muh hand drawn and I support animation" shtick, I doubt we'll ever recover unless animation is moved out of LA completely.

Ben 10 and Regular Show.
The former was the last big hurrah of big toy action shows and to this day is CN's most profitable IP and the latter was the last true CN cartoon being essentially a dudebro cartoon with wacky shenanigans for about 4-5 seasons up until the tumblr millennial calarts writers, as usual, took a male-centered show and the proceeded to sabotaged it by that turning it into a a terrible soap-opera romance melodrama fanfiction of itself just to shit on one of the MC while the other was just used to prop up one of the writers' self-insert mary sue into relevance.

Both share many the same exact reasons on why they declined, although I agree that AT's rot is exponential by comparison, at least Regular Show knew when to die and gave us somewhat of a good final despite the mediocre final season in space which why I hate that they're trying to bring it back, AT gave us a shitty non-final with a bunch of unlikable characters that honestly no-one gives a shit about and hasn't really truly stopped with more endless bad spin-offs and even more slop yet in production as we speak.
