In the first episode where IK's heart comes to life Finn and Jake have a moment where they wonder if they should just let him die, missing his heart and all.
They don't do that though because they're good dudes and Ice King's crimes aren't warranting straight up execution. And as time goes on they get to know him better and, surprise surprise, when you humanize someone you get less of a desire to murder them. So they didn't do that.

Finn is almost perfect except for one controversial thing. He doesn't display sexuality, it's almost impossible to discuss this topic without someone calling you a pedophile or weirdo.
