Around this time it turns out that the game got most of its funding stolen or wasted because the author got scammed.
Now imagine the comic comes back with a sequel and the author just keeps doing shit to intentionally piss everyone off, and then hires people to get back goodwill, and constantly in this fandom its just author or person who represents the author does horrible thing, fandom is divided, people working for author try to make amends, over and over again. And the comic gets really divisive and political and only appeals to the worst parts of the shit fandom and the author hires the most obnoxious faggots from the fandom to work for him (and at one point one starts selling pics of “her” ass on the official twitter account).
Flash forward. Massive reset. New staff brought in, assure the fans that things will be better. For a while they are.
But the comic’s website is breaking down so a couple of fans take it upon themselves to archive it, and the author himself directs people to use this archive to read the comic.
And then the author shuts down the only way to read his webcomic because one of the fans who is archiving his comic for free refused to apologize for criticizing him for getting scammed regarding the video game thing.
