Flying cars will never happen unless we actually develop effectively FLAWLESS self-driving technology capable of navigating space in all three dimensions along with engines with pretty much no possible way of failing. Imagine some drunk motherfucker crashing his flying car into the 30th Story of a downtown Manhattan skyscraper, or just the fact that any kind of crash is almost guaranteed to be failure from the fall. Nobody's doing that shit until it's basically impossible to crash one of them.
