The best way to put it is that a lot of people feel Vivzie used her pre-existing cast and a lot of the connections she made in order to make the pilot as stepping stones towards the higher budget when she could replace everyone with broadway actors.
And some of these were people who brought their own existing fandoms to Hazbin and basically kept the fandom alive long enough for the show to get picked up for years after the pilot.
While Stamper and UkinoJoe obviously had their controversies and issues, Elsie Lovelock and Michael Kovach are both online indie darlings, everyone saw Hazbin as their potential big breaks and what really rubbed people wrong wasn't the recasting but that the original cast weren't even given any opportunity to say goodbye to the fandom they'd played such a huge role in cultivating.
