What the fuck did I just watch?
I know it's been over a month since KPop Demon Hunters premiered on Netflix and there's been numerous threads posted on /co/ during that time, but I just watched it today since it's been Netflix's #1 movie for weeks now. So what's the appeal?
>KPop girl band fights demons.
Meh, both overused tropes.
>This has been going on for centuries and is why there's always been a girl pop group with the job throughout the ages.
Ok, cool.
>The lead singer is half-demon.
Now you have my attention. Fun source for drama.
>Her mother is brought up like three times but we never see her and there's absolutely no mention of the father.
Why?
>Rumi's demon half gives her a skin pattern and can sing powerfully.
That's it?
>It's supposed to be a coming-out allegory?
Again? We're all bored of this story and it doesn't really work since it's something she inherited.
The music was good and I loved the costuming, but what else is there? Are the performances the only reason why this movie is popular?
