The original show ran its course. The show was never cancelled, Craig just thought 6 seasons and a movie was enough
The problem is that it's a money printing brand without a show. The 2016 reboot was created solely to get the brand back into public perception in order to sell more merch. The 2016 show failed miserably because it was unironically soulless and made by retarded unfunny people.
The only thing they could do would just be to air the original show again, which I'm not sure if they're even doing. With the slow death of cable tv I'm not sure how kids are introduced to cartoons now
