This. The whole Family Guy cast's look was pretty much perfected by the very first episode. It's impressive how they've all gone on to become cartoon icons for generations after being hurriedly scribbled up in some dude's office back in 1998. Same applies to all the other long-running cartoons.

I think it'd be really cool if that new Ted cartoon tried for a more Hanna-Barbera-esque look since Seth first came up with the concept as an animated sitcom back in the '90s.

Just anything stylistically unique for a change would be nice

It's because the Vietnam war was commonly known as a military and political "quagmire" for the American side during the war, and that for all intents and purposes, they shouldn't have been there to begin with. Therefore, that Vietnam map picture was a "Quagmire" that OP forgot to put up there in his thread.
