The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball
So why is this a whole new show? It's pretty much the same as the old one, it could've easily been The Amazing World of Gumball Season 7.

Because if you search up "the amazing" your search results are going to lead you to a more prominent animation shows content and direct you away from seeing Gumball content

It's like Aqua Teen giving each new season a different name, just marketing. Though I wish it was just "Wonderful World of Gumball", "Wonderfully Weird" doesn't roll off the tongue as well

True, but this is treated as a new show, while other revivals, like Phineas and Ferb and King of the Hill are just new seasons.
They're not like "Phineas and Ferb: Next Summer", or "Kings of the Hill", you know? And the King of the Hill revival is absolutely more different from the original series than TWWWOG is from TAWOG.

It lets them pay the creators less because the new series has less than 3 seasons done.

I don't know if it really is the case, but as a pre-hiatus Gumfag I got hooked up by the pilot episode back when it first aired and have been following that show ever since.

Well the most cynical answer I can think of is they know it'll be shit and they don't want the low ratings from this "new" show to affect the residuals of the old show.

Work around to contract law. >>149799650 is the gist of it. It's why Justice League and Justice League Unlimited are considered two different shows and Ben 10 keeps rebranding itself.

I'd say you're trolling, but they did flush half of this new season down Hulu's hatch.

I think the Weird part comes in with the fact that there's some pretty fuckin weird and surreal content with this season even for Gumball standards, like Principal Brown twerking for his audience of children

Anyone else not even really notice Gumball stopped getting new episodes until this was announced? I thought it was still going this whole time, then again I stopped paying attention to it years ago.

Gumball never really went away. You have the abrupt series finale that didn't have as much impact as a more conventional series ending would've had, coupled with CN still latching onto the show despite it all with cheap "specials" in the years that followed:

Add the fact that random clips would go viral every couple months or so, and the show never grew irrelevant enough to feel as though it ever ended.

Ben Bocquelet said that he is rewriting the script. Meaning that it isn't even at a stage where you can even begin thinking about pitching it to WB execs, to say nothing of it being greenlit and passed on to production.
