the CG made it possible to do things that wouldn’t be humanly possible for a budgeted film, like having an entire ocean move brick-by-brick in the bunker couch scene.
and it opened the doors for all the stylized CG films that came after, like TMNT and Spider-Verse. studios were more willing to take on that risk because LEGO’s financial success.

Big Hero 6 definitely gets more hate than is deserved, but I think I speak for everybody when I say LEGO is the better movie.

I used to be friends with this guy who never liked Lord of the Rings because when he was a little kid, he wanted to watch the first Hobbit movie. His mom promised they would, but on the way to the theatre, they passed a pet store, his sister asked for a hamster or guinea pig or something. Then his mom spend the money they were going to buy tickets with on the animal that died like the day after. It's one of the best clichéd Hollywood movies. They were also behind the Cloudy movie, and looking back, those movies aged well despite their bad parts. Big Hero 6 is just Disney trying to do MCU and failing hard. I kind of like that the protagonist is an arrogant prick, but that doesn't lend itself to a good movie.

The Lego Movie obviously. BH6 had the frame of a good movie and it did take balls to kill off the brother after developing him but it was ultimately just okay.
