One of my favorite childhood shows growing up, and I remember it fondly. I’ve probably outgrown it a little by now and dunno if the humor would hold up if I tried rewatching it, especially outside of my most favorite eps.

Sort of unfortunate how abruptly it was canceled, and that those planned episodes never got made. But apparently a lot of the crew took the cancelation as an opportunity to go on to make Avatar the Last Airbender, so that makes living in this timeline worth it.

The Enter the Florpus reboot Netflix special was, eh, fine I guess.

Perfectly hit the cultural zeitgeist like 1 year too early, if it came out in 2002 or 2003 it probably would have been a smash hit right out of the gate. Instead it got tepid ratings at first which gave Nick further incentive to kill it. Which is a fucking shame because visually it's one of the better cartoons made for TV and the writing was really unique. There's a good reason it blew up after the fact, it's a crime the series didn't get to see its full potential.

When I was a kid, my eyesight started deteriorating to the point where the doctors thought I’d be totally blind by age 10. As a result, I was pretty touchy about any eye related imagery and the reason I’m bringing this up is because I actually saw the premiere and fucking LOVED it… then next week they had episode 2 where bestest friend Keith gets his fucking eyes ripped out on screen (well in shadow but still). That shit turned me off the show until I was 14 or so my eyesight actually stabilized around 8 btw, it’s still dog shit but I can see just fine with glasses now and I caught a rerun or something (I don’t remember) and realized "Oh, wait this show actually is amazing and I was just being a pussy about the eye thing". Great show that I really wished I gave another chance before it was cancelled.

Actually, I remember hearing it got GREAT ratings however it was the 14-16 demographic which Nickelodeon has absolutely no fucking clue how to capitalize on. Also the previously mentioned 9/11 incident really put a damper on children’s television’s tolerance for anything slightly dark for a couple of years.

You're right, it's early in the morning so that slipped my mind. It ended up doing really well with kids later on tough, but by that point it was already too late. Also stupid as fuck that a company can see a big success like that and just go "TEENAGERS? WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO WITH THIS??????" instead of just leaning into it.

It's a mix of industrial music and hardstyle techno music (gabber, hardcore, speedcore, etc). The Quake's OST is quite similar (as well as early NIN music who made the game OST).

Heavy use of orchestral instruments and choir is what sets it apart from typical dark industrial, techno, and similar electronic music. NIN lacks them, from what I've heard, and while Quake's ambient tracks share a decent amount of similarities, the more intense ones have little in common with Manthei's work. One more detail is a strong military feel, most apparent through the drums.

Jhonen had a really promising show called very important house that he was working on but Disney pulled the plug and effectively killed it forever since they own the rights to it. Super sad.

Hypothetically, if you were the absolute ruler if IZ Earth and Humanity. What whould you do to prepare to defend Earth from an Irken Invasion? Bonus points if you are creative and dont do what Adult Dib did in that one episode where he destroys their snack supply and the Irkens go into "retard panic mode"

If the show ever comes back, Jhonen Vasquez needs to be held on the same leash he was held on with Nick. Mild censorship breeds creativity.

It came out on the wrong network. Billy and Mandy during its first season + the Grim and Evil era as well as Flapjack were equally dark, and Cartoon Network didn't intervene much at all with them.

I just use Zim against them. I'll pretend to surrender to Zim and entertain his delusions of grandeur and let him do his thing. When the Irken Armada arrives Zim will do what he always does and ruins everything for them. That Massive will probably blow up and most of the Armada with it. Im not sure what to do with Zim afterwards other then put him in a test tube or cryogenically freeze him. Whenever we have to deal with Irkens again i'll just release Zim and tell him the Tallest want to congratulate him on successfully taking over the planet again or some shit. I'll probably put a grown up Dib in charge of tard wrangling the green bastard

I'm no expert but I think he's got enough notoriety and experience that he probably could, but that's a pretty uncertain business if you don't have any solid financial backing. He might not want to take that risk.

I question if Zim is THAT stupid to be manipulated like that. Not saying he wouldnt be, but he might figure out whats going on eventually. Also the risk of surrendering to Zim, even if its in pretend has the risk of him mind controlling you or removing your brain or some shit.
