>>149824951>It wasn't a compromise you utter buffoonIt was a compromise and recognized as such even by the dullard slavers themselves who soothed their guilty conscious with nonsense about slavery would "gently fade away" like a garden fairy!
You keep bringing up Washington, I don't know why, he owned slaves and his virtues absolutely lay well outside his "thoughts" on that institution. The Hero of Two Worlds, the Marquis de Lafeyette himself actually told Georgey boy that slavery was immoral. George told him that it'd just sort of fade away. Lafeyette takes that seriously and *freed his slaves*, he told George to do the same and George made excuses like a child caught cutting down a cherry tree.
We fought the civil war redeeming this compromise. The evil and immoral binding of fellow humans as slaves weighed heavily on the American psyche, battles began between abotlitionists and slave owners. Everyone was aware of the issue and as our independence grew ever more secure, we looked inward and were growing apalled by the slavers' sloth & greed. The slavers spilled our blood in the name of defending slavery, inspiring Union men to take up the cause in earnest. We ended slavery and began the process of cleaning up the slavers' mess, had a proper Radical Republican been elected to finish the war we wouldn't be in Trump's mess! Instead we compromised with the elites, following Andrew Johnson's disgusting tenure as easily one of our worst Presidents.
The lesson as always is not to trust the oligarch. Justice is gradual. We'll likely strike another glorious blow against oligarchy, lose some ground and have to push forward again. Two steps forward, one step back.
