Rabies is eradicated in some parts of the world, including Japan. It's also been eradicated in most of Europe. It's a bitch to get rid of it in some places like North America because of how fuckhuge some expanses of wilderness are, but there are still active attempts ongoing basically everywhere since it's been proven that it -can- be eradicated with enough dedication and resources.
