This is basically what DC Comics did with The New 52. It was 90% a reboot but select stuff from the previous continuity remained canon like Batman: Death in the Family and The War of the Green Lanterns. So Peacemaker Season 1 being canon means that The Suicide Squad is also sort of canon.

That doesn't seem to be Gunn's style. He was clearly pissed that Infinity War and Endgame completely changed the direction of GOTG3, but he still rolled with the punches.
I don't see him being so navel gazing as to put out a recut of Peacemaker to better fit it in. The recap at the start of S2 is all you need.
And The Suicide Squad is just a complete no-go since you'd have to cast a new Harley to awkwardly greenscreen into like a third of the shots in the film.

TSS certainly is due to mentions of its events in Peacemaker and Creature Commandos, minus elements like Harley Quinn, and anyone who died that they might want to use in future projects. I could easily see Captain Boomerang being retconned.
The original SS is a lot more disposable. The only parts of it that matter to the DCU are the introduction of Waller and Flag, and neither actually do anything in that movie that was important enough to even bear mention in TSS, so whatever.

New 52 was basically a retooled line refresh post Brightest Day/Flashpoint. Brightest Day brought back a lot of characters from the dead and integrated Vertigo characters into the main DC universe proper. All of those series like Aquaman, Swamp Thing etc were pretty much planned for this refresh. (Animal Man was originally a White Lantern but cut.) Green Lantern, Batman Inc and Batwoman all pretty much continued on like nothing had happened. Scott Snyder's Batman Court of Owls arc was a retooled DickBats story given to Bruce (it worked better with Dick Grayson). Dan DiDio pretty much decided to take a line refresh into a reboot so it wasn't 90% a reboot, it was mostly a line refresh that was retooled in a short turn around into a reboot in name only.

Peacemaker did not better in streaming (or in physical download sales) than Titans - and not that much better than Doom Patrol did, which had FAR FAR better reviews, and both of those ended.
FFS, even the Superman & Lois DCW show got a physical release and, overall, combining each form of physical sales (including digital downloads), it also beat Peacemaker S1 - and it's cast and production company were also under contract for further seasons, but when the CW decided they would only renew it and wouldn't give it further seasons, they didn't 'save it' by keeping the entire cast or episode run intact for Max.

I don't like the bi-sexual lighting of the intro nor the song being played since it's essentially satanic and if you're not paying serious attention to the lyrical content you can find yourself entertaining something awful if you keep singing it out loud. The show was...alright but nothing really special. Gunn just revealed all of his strengths. We know his mentality. He can never portray fatherhood in a natural, good-meaning light. He self-inserts and makes every single male protagonist a variation of himself and the women are written as men. I skipped every single scene where Adebayo *had* to be gay with that other woman and the episode/series quality increased dramatically. The character being homosexual had no bearing on the plot for me because I skipped those elements. By skipping I could tolerate and even come to enjoy the series despite it's flaws.

Flag has no lingering feelings about his love interest from the previous film. His pivotal moment in the film is just him deciding enough is enough with cleaning up the government's mistakes with no consequences to the people behind the scenes.
You could infer that part of that stems from his experiences with Enchantress, but it's never explicitly stated.
