Why Marvel did not pushed him like they push that lil bitch nigga down everyone's throat? He had the potential
Anonymous No.149830850 >>149831034
But he was created to die and push the consequences of a book.

No MCU potential though.
And thatโ€™s whatโ€™s really counts ever since 2012.

No he wasn't. Instead of even trying to get behind a new character, Marvel just let another book kill him, and even after he got brought back, he never really got another chance to take off.

>Because nobody liked him. To shill and push a character, people have to first like the character.
And by "people" what matters most is "people within Marvel" more than "the readers" unless a book sells so well as to make the character undeniable.

When a character has a following and good feedback, you get Ms. Marvel.

When a character has a decent following and big name writer push, you get Miles.

When a character has no following and big writer push, you get Iron Girl.

When a character has gooners cult following, you get Gwenpool.

When a character has nothing you get Gravity.

Now you two are here and make up 90% of the fan base so you can both hold each other in the corner for a circle jerk.

The original plan when they killed him was to immediately bring him back as the new Captain Marvel with McKeever writing his series. Then they decided the Skrull Mar-Vell thing was a better idea for whatever reason so they abandoned it and McDuffie had to bring him back later on in his Fantastic Four run. Everything might have been mitigated if they went through with their original plan but they didn't and it wound up completely killing the character in the womb.

Truthfully, I can't think of a writer that's been as needlessly and pointlessly screwed over as McKeever.

>They did push him. For years.
His miniseries ran from June 2005 to October 2005. The next time he showed up was the Beyond! miniseries where he died in Beyond! #6 which was December 2006. He was around for barely longer than a year before he was killed. Again, he was killed because the intent was to make him the new Captain Marvel then editorial squelched on it so McDuffie brought him back after Civil War (in a story that's mostly infamous for T'Challa beating Silver Surfer with a hammerlock) as a mea culpa. But by that point the character had been ruined. He only showed up in a few things that McKeever wrote when he came back to Marvel and hasn't been in anything since a Fear Itself: Youth In Revolt which was basically the last real appearance for a lot of teen heroes like Ultra Girl, Thor Girl and most of the Initiative characters.

What was it with 2000s Marvel and just spamming new young heroes left and right?? The 90s and 2010s had it too but they werenโ€™t THIS bad.
- New X-Men/Academy X
- Young Avengers
- the Initiative
- Gravity
- Arana
- Runaways
- Secret Warriors
And prolly more Iโ€™m forgetting.

It carried into the early 2010s and then kinda hit a wall in the middle.
- Avengers Academy/Arena
- Miles
- new Ghost Rider
- new Nova
- new Ms. Marvel
- Ironheart
- Hope and the Five Lights
- the Jean Grey School students
- a new New Warriors team
- the Nuhumans
- Viv and Vin
- Nadia
- the other Champions kids
- Gwenpool
- Gabby
- some more random X-kids
- Alpha
- Moon Girl
And it just kinda hit a wall in 2016.
The 2020s has had:

Because Gravity sucks. He was created for the sole purpose of being killed off. They eventually bought him back and did nothing with him. Was better off leaving him dead.

Not really.

https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/sean-mckeever-and-mike-norton-on-creating-gravity

Actually I didn't know this but Gravity was part of a New Warriors pitch McKeever did and was originally supposed to be a girl using the Marvel Girl moniker. The entire character as he wound up being was a straight up homage to the Stern era Peter Parker. The killing him off to revive him as Captain Marvel (and that story being aborted after Gravity was killed in Beyond!) only came up after the mini had been published.

Like the link said, McKeever and Mike Norton created the character as a girl, pitched it to Marvel and got turned down. Then Marvel was starting their Marvel Next imprint which was a Tsunami replacement, the editor asked McKeever for a pitch and he and Norton reworked the character into a modern ESU era Peter Parker.

Norton is a decent artist and it's a shame he never broke out because he's not flashy. His biggest work was a run on Simone's All-New Atom and it looms like his last Big Two work was a couple of issues of Titans Academy.
