People gave too much credit to a cartoon that promised to be french sailor moon but became preschooler gi joe. Fact is that the animation industry is extremely stagnant, much like the movie industry, and so when something new comes out everyone gobbles it up like starving cannibals. Miraculous rode his new entry clout for over 10 years and now it's little more than a toy brand.

The creator is straight-up a more successful Chris Chan who writes with malice and keeps Marinette as his self-insert OC who always saves the day and never ends up in any serious danger, peril, or faces any consequences to her actions.

I always liked adrien as a character, he had so much potential and he's used as a trophy boyfriend at the best of times and punching ball on average. Perhaps that's what disenfranchised people after all, the disparity of treatments reserved to the two protagonists was so much and for so long that fans said "fuck you" and left.

Show was rocky but got better the more it went on and wrapped up in a mostly decent season five finale that could work as a series finale pretty well. Followed that up with the usual Miraculous hiatuses without any news for upwards of a year and you can imagine energy just wasn't there anymore.

Then the *actual* show came out, was horribly, horribly fucking stilted and disappointing, but the people who were already hyped up took a while to come down and realize it was shit... kinda like how zombies don't realize they're dead.
It didn't become shit, it was shit, and it just take a while for people to stop giving a fuck and move on.
Call me back when they do the original style and premise, because what we got fucking blows and I have no idea what you guys see in this garbage.
