Every kid knows what arcs One Piece or Jujutsu Kaisen are currently on, but no one has the faintest idea what happened in the latest Batman comic. It's actually depressing how far the Big 2 have fallen.

We actually wound up calling a half day because of it. Don't get me started on Battle for the Cowl and how we were at each other's throats to the point of fisticuffs over who deserved to inherit the mantle that nothing got done for almost a month. Superman didn't START being an immigrant in 2016, him being an immigrant is baked into his origin story from the start. The difference is that at the time that was symbolic of the american dream, and now that's a battlefield in the culture war. But it was always a part of the character, and trying to pretend it wasn't is cope.

Movies sure, cartoons if you were a kid but comics weren't really a normie thing. Even with the peak of the MCU none of my friends read comics.
