>No delusions
>Perfectly lucid
>Knows exactly what he's doing
Is Joker even insane? He just seems like a psychopath to me.

Insanity is not exclusively schizophrenia

psychopath isnt actually like a diagnosis. he's most likely borderline personality or antisocial personality. Neither get you out of jail free.

As trite as Joker can be in the wrong hands or too much exposure, it's actually an interesting subject.

Firstly it depends on the interpretation, originally and often he's just homicidal and getting his kicks by making it out as dark humor.

However TDK and TKJ imply the antisocial behavior stems from him wanting to trivialize normalcy and/or force people to accept anyone can become unraveled with enough justification, or injustice once they realize how thoroughly the system can fail.

e.g.

>"I'm not...No, I'm not."
TDK Joker's twitchy response to Gambol's offhand remark and several other instances indicate he takes personal umbrage with feeling he's moral wrong for his behavior, if it was just an act he'd just laugh it off.

>"Don't get even, get mad!"
TKJ Joker at the end of his musical number stresses embracing insanity, or more accurately abandon to the very hopes and expectations that bring dejection when you're disappointed, to survive the unfairness of reality.
However TKJ also implied there was some traumatizing incident that caused Joker's psyche to induce retrograde amnesia and substitute that point in his life with narratives that are easier to process.

That said, when he's presented like Batman TAS and the Arkham games he's mostly doing the crime thing of his own volition like said above

He just thought it would be mad funny to fuck with a man dressed as a bat
There is no need for actual reason beyond its funny and fun

No, but Joker is to edgelords and incels what Harley is to twitterfags and edgy teenage girls who think they're not like other girls. "He's so crazy and a victim" is like 90% of his appeal when it's not his whole character.

>mention schizophrenia out of nowhere
Ok, schizo.

joker would be better as a trickster character that on rare occasions crosses the line in doing something meant to change batman forever. the barbaric mass killer stuff has never interested me..

i think he just abuses the insanity plea to get out of being executed

I think I prefer the Jack Napier origin where he was always a murderous asshole and the chemical dip just warped him a bit

It's all an act, Joker's thing is that he's a fucking asshole. The insanity thing is a gimmick to him, and a ticket away from federal fuckass supermax.
