The real question is what was /co/'s problem? People on this board spent years clamoring for Steven to be 'cynical and mature' due to 'PTSD or trauma' from everything he went through in SU and whined when Sugar granted their wish.

Can't speak on behalf of /co/, but I just wanted Steven to spend more time coming to terms with his past. He didn't really get much time to really do so once he figured out that Rose was Pink Diamond, so Future could've been the perfect opportunity for him to really come to terms with that. Considering how important Steven's perception of his mom was for all of the original series, it's weird for all that to be swept aside for whatever the fuck happened in Future.
