If you want to go by what he was doing back in #48-50, he's not doing stuff like turning into a wheel for a moving car or getting squeezed into a tiny bottle anymore, but he can still stretch in some interesting ways, like this or rolling up into a ball to launch himself at Galactus. Mostly minor things, like stretching his arm to wave the Ultimate Nullifier around.

Yes, but for some reason they're always adamant on showing Reed use his powers in creative ways in the comics. Most of the time he sticks to basic stretching (which is what the film went for), and it wasn't until recently that they let artists' and writers go full zany. The Reed stretching himself into the fourth dimension comes from Ryan Noth's run, less than three years ago.

I haven't watched the movie but judging by this image it's not even a bad idea in itself, it's just they should've had the stretch be longer. he's starting to be in pain too soon, he should be able to stretch like double or triple that and you can easily have galactus do that

wouldn't be better if we were told early in the movie that his stretching powers aren't unlimited as many would believe? maybe we see a scene of him stretching and then struggles to let everyone know he's been trying to figure out hiw far he can reach but it's painful whenever he wants to break his lenghtiest score or i don't know maybe he was trying to pull his body bacl but galactus strength was greater causing pain?
