Is Metropolis better as a futuristic city of tomorrow where you can actually believe a Superman lives, or Any City USA where his existence is a miraculous thing?

the former. Superman is the man of tomorrow. fuck Gunn, fuck Snyder, and long live Alan Moore

It doesnt have to be Any City USA, but I prefer something more rural as opposed to something futuristic. Im sure background artists breathe a sigh of relief cause tommorowland just means "simple rounded blocks" but looking at OP theres nothing special to look at it. Like if you ever get the chance to stroll though LA, you got buildings including those that are run down to the ground and vacant having all these nice signs, good brick layout, nice looking columns, its some nice architexture. But then right next to those buildings you got the "modern" buildings that are just fucking shapes and those look like ass to me in comparison, and the "modern" architecture look is closer to OP's pic them the more rural classic looks.
A city should be designed in a way where you can see people actually walking around in it.

A futuristic city. It's called Metropolis.

It might be nicknamed the "city of tomorrow" but I've never seen anything in it that actually looks futuristic. Sometimes the buildings have interesting-looking (or sometimes just implausible) architecture but nothing really seems futuristic about it.

in the early 2000's it kind of was, old time spaceships (?) used to just float around the sky

Retrofuturistic city. It makes sense because of Luthor's influence and also I like atomic age aesthetics.

IMO Metropolis should have Monorails while Gotham has blimps.

>old time spaceships (?)
They look like fancy blimps.

Metropolis being a future city doesn't make sense. Superman just stops criminals and Supervillains, he's doesn't control it like a utopian city state

Much of the futurism would be Lex's work. My ideal would be if Jeff Bezos started investing in making Cleveland the City of Tommorrow as a flex, but actual mad scientists got involved.

But Superman can fly and actually interact with those set pieces. It makes sense that his city has blimps. Especially if he’s a cultural landmark in and of himself.

I see it as both in the future, yet stuck in a Styalized Art Deco Past

I said they looked like "fancy" blimps because they have a bunch of random greebles on them. A zeppelin looks even more like a regular blimp than whatever is going on in >>149853423
