It wasn’t good but I didn’t hate it. First 15-20 mins were a slog though. It started getting better after that.

Aside from the shock and gross out moments it's shockingly basic? Like take out three of the fucks and its your first draft adult swim sketch. "Oh the cops are dog catchers, the dog shows are beauty pageants" The concept could have been pushed further.

It's like Mr Pickles but toned way down and trying to present itself as actual art.
At least Mr Pickles was honest and up-front about how ugly it was in both appearance and content, and the often over the top gore and occult aspects gave it this sort of absurd angle of humor even if it was immature, with constant crass sexual content. Fixed is just this extremely dry narrative but with dog balls and assholes bouncing all over the screen and characters that do nothing but swear and talk about fucking.
There's no real shock value or anything else to engage with in Fixed, it's just a boring story with animated animal genitals on the screen.

Come on guys, y’all are being too harsh on the film, it’s not a masterpiece, but it’s just a simple silly little movie, I don’t care if it’s vulgar, R-rated comedies in general are vulgar. Honestly as a college student I found the main dog characters hesitation towards sex pretty relatable. I found this film to be oddly charming.

It’s also really nice to see adult animated comedies with actual artistic integrity put into them rather than unfunny poorly animated sitcoms made by comedians. The animation is really nice, I really dig the Spumco influence.

My personal litmus test for an animated story is that if it can too easily be replaced by humans in a live action setting I wouldn't be a fan. This is barely a comparison but it's like an Adam Sandler film trying to be the Postal movie if that makes any sense. Like, the plot outside the dog balls can easily just be a 2000's sex rom com with little adjustment. With Sausage party at least there was this grand scale to it.

I knew it was going to be awful the moment it was announced. Genndy's only other example of a 'gross out' style cartoon was a pilot for a show about a couple of girls stuck on an island (Was it called 'Stranded'?), and I remember people fucking hating it and thinking it was below Genndy's usual abilities then too.
Genndy obviously has a certain love for this style of humour, but it's clear that he's not particularly good at it.
I haven't watched fixed it, it honestly just doesn't look appealing to me, and looks like Ren and Stimpy Adult Party all over again, but I'll give it a go at some point.

It's just a shame that Genndy squandered this chance at his own film on this, rather than the work that he's best at and would have pushed the industry forward a bit - his more mature and 'serious' works, like Samurai Jack, or Primal, or the Clone Wars.
Ah well, hopefully this doesn't harm his career beyond some people laughing at him.

I love raunchy cartoons, but this was just not funny. Great expressions and animation, but man, only a couple of jokes hit. Way too many jokes felt like first draft placeholder jokes, like the crows eating garbage joke. Like, so much shit in this movie felt like if Gennedy was pitching them to friends during a storyboard meeting, everyone in the room would be giving courtesy chuckles instead of actually laughing.

So many moments of characters rambling in what felt like a cartoonist's impression of what improvisational comedy is. As if they were trying to capture the spirit of Larry David conversation and fell flat every single time. You would've never thought that the dude who directed this had spent 30 years in cartoon comedy. All the timing was off.

I liked it, I'm in no rush to watch it again, but I liked it, felt like Genndy and his animation friends making a shitposty/ get it out of your system type of a movie, but I guess that's what happens eventually when you get tired of making constant peaks of animation, or maybe venting cause Popeyes being canned. Literally a 2000's comedy sex movie in animated format with a premise that'll filter a lot of normies.
Still lightyears better than Sausage Party, I'll give it that at least.

For what is worth, I ended up liking the Frankie x Lucky subplot more than I expected. Beyond the feral intersex 69ing stuff and the American Pie-type humor, I found their handful of interactions to be genuinely cute, even heartwarming.

OP here, I finally watched it. Amazing movie, great scenes, the Dachshund dog (Fetch) was the best character, but the Boxer dog (Rocco) had cool moments as well. Lucky was there too. I liked the Bull x Honey storyline. I really recommend it. The bear at the end was unexpected but very funny.

There was a weird moment about the Frankie character where they had the exact same joke back-to-back. The tiny dog goes, "He had a fruit and a vegetable!", then the wiener dog says, "I've heard about this! Some dogs are born with a lasagna and a cannoli", to which the Idris Elba dog says, "I'm confused". Then the joke just stops. Like, it feels like it's supposed to be structured in a three-act joke where Fetch, Bull, and Lucky all say euphemisms for genitals, each getting more confusing than the last, only for Rocco to go, "Huh? Huh?? HUH???" each time, but that doesn't happen. Instead, they just do two food analogies then a mildly confused face and drop the joke.

A lot of jokes in the movie felt like that. Just kind of half-baked.

Some of the earlier conversations implied that Sterling had been with many female dogs in the past. My personal theory is that he had been around for a while, and now he had reached an age where they didn't want to use him as a stud anymore. Breeders will generally neuter their dogs before selling them as pets. Maybe they wanted to retire Sterling from dog shows and breeding, and sell him away as a companion dog.

But I'm probably thinking too hard into it. The humans in this movie seemed to be idiots. They didn't even notice that Bull interrupted the mating. Maybe they really thought those puppies were Sterling's and that his sperm should no longer be used.
